How does God get our attention? Why is it so hard?
He seemed right out of the pages of the Marlboro man.  Although hospitable to those who weren’t outdoorsman, his face looked like it had seen just about every thing the outdoors could throw at him.
My wife’s horse was the problem child of the rental group.  Its place was just behind the guide where he could keep track of it.  Somehow it found its way out of this location in line and went into a bucking routine with my wife doing a very credible rodeo debut.  Our guide decided it was time for him and my wife to switch horses.
His new mount, named Indian Killer was a thorough bred and an ex-race horse.  He took Indian Killer off a little ways from the group of riders and they had a little talk about who was in charge during a horse ride.  I’m sure Indian Killer still thought he could race like the wind and having trouble with the fact he was a dude horse with riders who were 50 year old ladies and kids.  There was a bit of a struggle of wills.  The guide had to jury-rig a harness because the horse was so strong that he broke his.
What is our heavenly father asking us to do?  Are we rushing ahead of what he has asked us?  Do we have a proud spirit?  Our trail guide seemed to know just what that horse was about and bring it under control.  How much do we chafe at our bit and wonder why life hurts so much?  We want to be part of the herd that heavenly Father has.  He knows about provisioning and caring for us.  He talks to us and knows our name.  It’s up to us to respond to his guidance and the whispering in our ear.
