A Halloween Poem
Bats roamed free in star-free skies
Moonlight reflected in their eyes
The graveyard was there
Right there beside the mere
Ghosts and sprites, and skeletons too
Rise up one by one without further ado.
Stared down at the village, where they used to live
Oh, if only they were brave enough to jump over the cliff.
Down in the valley, the kids were all outside
Running from door to door in disguise.
And each time they were caught or seen
They would all then shout "HAPPY HALLOWEEN!"
