A horror story about demonic possession and the results of dealings with the dark arts.
Repentance

Chapter One
The Birth

The year is 1016 A.D. - western Germany. A middle-aged man of decent earnings and little nobility ponders a book of sinister origin over candle light in his den. Udet so distraught in his old age and fearful of his end wishes only to leave some sort of dynasty to be remembered by. And he believes that this book and the others he has read of the occult are his key to making his mark on humanity.
His wife of equal age steps into his den with a glass of wine and a sweet smile, as if her husband was just a noble philosopher of antiquities. She sets the glass down in front of Udet on his desk.
She pauses while looking at him and says,” Udet, perhaps its time you come to bed.” Udet remains entrenched in his book, not even noticing his wife’s comment .She rolls her eyes and walks back out of the room.
Drawing the glass of wine to his mouth while reading his parchment book, he notices a faint outline of eyes in his glass .His heart jumps but he shakes his head and puts the glass back down and continues to read mumbling words to himself in the dim light.
His stomach growls as his dry lips crack. He slowly extends his hand to the wine glass as he continues his reading. Just as he is about to grasp the glass it tips over spilling on his bear-hide carpet.
Confused as to why it fell since he did not touch it, Udet calls for his wife, "Hilda, Hilda." Without reply, again he called, "Hilda."
Curious why she didn't respond he lays his book down and walks out of the room into the kitchen. Seeing no sign of her he proceeds to the bedroom where he sees the figure of a woman under the covers. As he approaches the bedside the room becomes dim as if the moon had left the sky and cold begins to drift around him.
He grabs the covers as he exclaims, "Hilda." Exposing Hilda’s face in a deep sleep, just as he reaches to shake her awake he sees something move under the covers near her hips. Apprehensively, he pulls the covers up and sees nothing but her legs just as they should be. He turns back and looks at her face, her eyes are wide with a grey haze of despair. He becomes frozen with fright.
Suddenly just as she opens her mouth to let out a scream he swings upright in his bed with hot sweat all over his body.
His heart pounding, he realizes it was only a dream and that his wife is sound asleep beside him. He steps out of bed onto his cold bedroom floor and walks into the bathing room toward a basin of water. He washes his hands and splashes some water onto his face and looks up into the polished bronze mirror and into his eyes, he sees that same grey haze. He lets out a shriek and stumbles backward onto a chair. Udet is horrified.
His wife rushes in the door way and asks, “What’s the matter?”
“The mirror," replies Udet, "the mirror".
Hilda looks into it and sees nothing but her face.
She looks back to him and says," There’s nothing there. Would you like me to get you some wine?"
Udet replies, "NO!" Hilda jerks her head back in surprise and then turns around to head back to bed. Udet wipes his brow and fearfully crawls back into bed with his naive wife.
Tossing and turning in bed for hours he finally gets up. Weary and distraught about the occurrences before he decides to do something he had been putting off for too long. Udet steps into the kitchen and grabs a container of salt with a narrow spout and proceeds into his den. He lights a few candles on his desk and surrounding shelves. Carefully and generously he pours the salt on the floor in a circle.
Udet then turns to his desk drawer and retrieves a small glass capsule of absinthe - a hallucinogenic alcoholic drink. He drinks it all down in one gulp and then places a candle on the floor in front of the circle and sits down within it. Sitting cross legged he stares into the candle and slowly closes his eyes as the alcohol takes effect. He drifts into a trance like sleep while chanting various fallen angels names , of them one is named Gremory. Soon he feels light as a feather and as if a tangible cold lingers around him. It draws him up to his feet as he opens his eyes.
He remains calm as to not disturb the fragile state and fall back into his being. He sees all around himself but he need not move his eyes or body to do so. He can see the candle that he lit in front of the circle as it fades in and out as blackened figures pass around it. A deafening pitch of sound begins to run through his essence and the dark figures around the circle begin to quicken their movements.
A voice of most unholiness exclaims, "Why have you brought forth us of such forsaken despair?"
Udet now uneasy and unsure to continue forces himself to respond. "I wonder of what greatness you could bestow upon me."
Another voice of a seemingly happier note whispers as if in his ear. "Send your hand forward, away from the ring."
He apprehensively pushes his hand of now translucent quality towards the barrier. The shadows begin to converge wildly where his hand will come forth. In an instant he is in an estate of great riches beside a fireplace in the finest leather chair. He peers around the room seeing its fine silk curtains and elegant furnishings. A woman steps into the room with a bright face and even brighter smile. She is of beauty he had only seen in his far off travels.
She walks over to him and asks, "Do you love me Udet?"
Over whelmed by her beauty he blurts out, "Yes!"
She smiles happily as another girl in a maid’s gown of equal beauty and grace steps into the room and begins to unravel her corset. The dress with its corset begins to come loose showing her natural figure that was not even restricted by the dresses bounds.
Udet stares gleefully in anticipation of his lover’s body but the room grows a pitch black and lights up again with him perched upon a king’s chair among many servants. He is in a grand chamber with his subjects singing and eating with great smiles on their faces. The room smells of fine wine and garnished meats, an underling stands patiently at his side.
"The fornicator is ready for your judgment Lord" says the underling, "Shall I bring him in?"
Udet unsure of what exactly is happening nods in accordance and the underling quickly runs off down a narrow torch lit hallway. Seconds later dungeon guards appear dragging a young man whom appears beaten beyond coherence. They bring him before Udet as the underling scurries in front of them.
"You have been charged with fornication with one of the Kings concubines," exclaims the underling, "Have you anything to say?"
The man unable to even stand simply mumbles in response. The underling simply waves to the guards and they drop the accused onto his knees as one of the guards places his foot on the man’s back to hold him down. The other draws his sword high and brings it down close to the man’s neck for aim and draws it back again slashing down with force decapitating the fornicator.
The man’s body slumps over drooling blood on the chamber floor, the head landing not a few feet from Udet's seat. Udet startled but finding some joy out of this contains his uneasiness.
Next a woman of fair beauty and who appears that she had been dealt a severe chastising is dragged into the room kicking and screaming in her native tongue unknown even to Udet. She lets out a monstrous scream as she gazes upon the beheaded man on the floor. The guard holding her unconcerned with her wrath allows her to run to the fresh corpse.
Falling onto her knees yelling in her language with tears along her face, she finally exclaims a word that Udet recognizes. "Husband, my husband!"
One of the guards draws her back onto her feet as a man coming from the other side of the room bearing a glowing hot iron poker approaches the underling by Udet. The soot covered man passes the poker to the underling. The underling turns to Udet and says," Would you like the honor of burning the infidelity out of her innards my Lord?"
Udet takes the fire tipped poker into his hand and glares at the brightness of its heat just as the room becomes dark with shadows again; he sees that the fiery tip of the poker has become the flame of the candle beyond the circle. He pulls his hand back to him self as the shadows continue to encircle the barrier.
The first voice that had spoken to him declares, "You have sampled an apple of our tree, what more do you require?"
"Please, I want more; I’ll do anything you desire!"
The demonic spirit responds, "Six years you shall know our greatness and upon the end you will give your vessel to he who defies I am."
Udet, unsure of what this pact means, simply yelps in fervor, "Yes!"
The shadows begin to subside as the room grows warm again and his essence slips back into its temple. The stone has now been cast and can only be caught by the Lake of Fire.

Six years have slithered by quickly making Udet a powerful King and purveyor of death and insurmountable horror. The handsomely robed Udet sits atop his jewel engraved throne pondering over a fine parchment letter about lowering local taxes. Udet simply smirks and places the letter into the iron torch beside his throne.
He steps off his throne and out to a balcony, the air is smoldering with crisp October air and the scents of peasant bread from below. The night is a navy black darkness with far off flames over the hills where he had ordered the pillaging of an enemy village. Udet begins to smile as he thinks of all the glory of his empire and how everything he desires is his. Suddenly the throne room doors swings open smashing against the wall. Guards are dragging some vagabond whom appears unconscious with a limp body and head.
Udet exclaims, "Who is this ruffian you bother me with at nights fall?"
"He claims to know the place of the ark of the Hebrews," responded a guard, "He wouldn’t tell us, he said he would only speak to you"
Udet in a curious tone says, "What is your name and what tribe do you hail from?"
Guard remarks," Lord he has no tongue"
Udet baffled replies, "Then how did he tell you he knew of the arks location?" The guards drop the man onto the floor and walk out shutting the doors behind them. Udet infuriated immediately runs over and opens the door to yell but the guards are gone already, even when he peers down the hallway. He turns around to find the man standing upright with eyes set upon Udet’s face.
Udet yells in anger," What are you looking at, Fool!!!"
The man opens his mouth black with blood and no tongue and exclaims in a hallowing tone, "You know my name"
Udet retorts," This is madness, I shall have you hung." Udet runs over to a door across the room leading to his bed chamber and swings it open only to see it has been filled in with stone. Udet spins around to see the man has perched him self on his throne in his garments.
Udet bellows in anger, "Remove your self from my throne!!"
The man grins widely and responds, "You remember me don’t you? I’m a friend of Gremory’s."
Udet’s face grows a pale shade of white as his memories come flooding back to that day.
Udet now full of fright murmur’s back," That was all just a dream!"
The man steps off the throne and begins to walk towards Udet.
"Six years you shall know our greatness and upon the end you shall give your vessel to the one who defies I am."
Udet is now frozen to the ground with fright unable to even gather enough courage to retort. The room drops to a horrid cold as the moon light fades from the air and the darkness of the night sails into the room like smoke. The man is now but inches away from Udet and is face to face with him.
Udet manages to whisper into the frigid air, "Who are you?"
The man replies, " I am of the highest triad, a seraphim cast out from the celestials, the bringer of knowledge, the leader of the fallen, I am the Lord’s favorite and the name by which I resound from is Lucifer.”
Udet trembling and paralyzed with anxiety yelps, "A demon."
The man’s face turns pale, as blackened veins begin to protrude.
He responds in a voice of terrible depth and of equal sinister tone," I am an Angel of Angels!! Never to be called a demon!"
"Now I shall take my flesh, that you so owe me!" The man’s eyes open wide as a sea of shadows swirl inside them. The blackened smoke in the room has now quickened and begun spinning round Udet in a vortex unleashing sounds unheard by the ears of man.
The man now with eyes wide and set on Udet grabs him by the face and pushes his sinewy fingers into Udet’s mouth and pulls his jaw open drawing his face closer and his mouth wider as if to let something pour into Udet from the mans mouth. Udet begins to struggle as he grabs the mans arms to try to pull away but the shadows flow down to his arms and draw them back. Udet begins to breathe heavily as he starts to panic. He can see down the throat of the man and there is a black sludge bubbling up ready to overflow into Udet’s mouth. He closes his eyes as he yells muffled screams while the sludge chokes the essence out of him.
Udet wakes up screaming throwing his covers off of him self and spilling onto the floor as he begins vomiting all over. A servant comes barging in.
"Lord what has happened?"
Udet groans. "Get help!"
The servant runs off just as Udet is able to catch his breath.
He mumbles to him self staring down at his barf laden chamber floor, "It was all just a dream, all just a dream". He manages to pull him self up onto his bed while wiping his face. He starts laughing in joy realizing that he’s going to be fine. The servant returns swinging the door open which startles Udet.
"Watch the noise you infidel!"
A colorfully garbed man with a staff approaches Udet and begins to examine him.
The healer says, "You look tired perhaps you have eaten something bad." Udet furls his brow in anger. "Of course I’m tired and no doubt that cook has tried to kill me! Take him to the dungeon I shall deal with him in the morning. Now get out of my chamber!”
The servant quickly finishes cleaning the barf and scurries out with the healer. Udet drinks some water from a bowl beside his bed and spits it onto the floor. He lies back onto his bed and lets out a groan of relief as he drifts back to sleep.

The morning finally arises peering into Udet’s bed chamber through a small window. Udet rolls over to look at the light then whips off his covers and springs out of bed. He slips on his sandals and proceeds towards the door just as a peculiar wind filled with whispers breezes across his back. Udet pauses and slowly turns around to find nothing unusual. He shrugs it off and opens the door walking down the hallway towards his throne room.
Udet walks directly towards his throne not even gazing around the room and says,” Fetch me some food and my garments, but first bring me the cook’s wife’s head.” He had finally sat down to realize his underling was not there like he usually was. His underling always woke up before him and went to bed after him.
Suddenly the main chamber doors swing open crashing against the wall. It is the underling.
“Lord I’m sorry I was not here to greet you but it appears your eastern battalion has been completely destroyed”
“That is impossible; those were over a thousand men against Rhine peasants.” responded Udet.
“An army of Saxons came after the pillage and overwhelmed them.”
Udet sat stunned. ”How can this be I eliminated the Saxons in this region not a year ago.”
“Your nobles from the west have come up against you my Lord.”
Udet now became worried, if they could destroy his Eastern battalion, his most loyal of battalions. Then they could sack the castle and city or even draw his remaining army to their side.
“Leave me now so I may ponder this,” exclaimed Udet.
Udet sits upon his thrown grinding his teeth not knowing what to do next. For all his years since that dream of demons he had been handed things he could not imagine. This kingdom was like a gift from the gods.
A calming voice began to resonate from the corners of the room,” You can be free of the Saxons, give willingly to my master.”
Udet stands up angrily, “Who is that, come out so that I can see you.”
“Udet do not resist us, give willingly now, save your self from the torment.”
“You infidel, you vagabond you…”
Before Udet could finish his sentence a force came over him ripping him from his seat and pulling him across the floor towards the chamber door stopping just before smashing his head. Udet plied to yell out but he could not, something was choking the words. Udet began growling and moaning alternating between high and low pitches as he writhes in horror on the floor. The force now grabs him and slings him against the wall knocking over a torch.
Udet can now see blackened figures forming in the corners of the chamber. The force now slowly alleviates him from the wall and towards the center of the room. The shadows begin to slither closer as they become more detailed. Udet begins crying in terrible fear as he can see a great red evil in their eyes and sharpened spikes along their bodies.
Finally the underling comes back into the chamber saying, “Lord I’m sorry to interrupt but…”
The underling now pauses as he gazes up at Udet whom has now turned to face him.
Udet manages to mumbles,” Help.”
The underling remains still as fright rivets through his body.
“ Devils! Ghastly demons!” says the underling, “I will get help!”
But just as he is about to turn away a force smashes against him flinging him through the air and against the wall in the hallway. Udet looks on seeing his only chance for salvation pass out.
He can hear all the demonic voices in his head. He can feel their thoughts and feelings. Great anger, sadness echoes in all of them. They would do anything to escape their prison. Their hate runs deep for all humanity and the Lord of the Hebrews. Udet now in a vein attempt tries to remember verses from a book he had only glanced over.
The holy bible is his last chance and so he begins saying, “Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts. Oh pleases Lord of the Hebrews save me from these evil spirits.”
“You are mine. Your flesh belongs to me. No Angel of Yahweh shall save you!” exclaims a demon inside Udet’s head.
“No I don’t want your gifts anymore. I just want my soul,” responds Udet.
A demon of a female tone begins to laugh. “Your soul is damned you impudent mortal. It is your flesh we want. You will burn up like all humans!”
The shadows have now completely covered Udet. He becomes calm as he seems to stop his spiritual struggle. The shadows dissipate as he slowly falls back down to the ground.

Udet is now in bed tossing feverously, bellowing out moans like that off hyenas. The healer from before is standing at the end of his bed with a worried expression on his face. Udet has now become a pale grey and his eyes look of a smudged white.
The healer shakes his head and turns to the underling,” He is under a powerful curse. Perhaps a Saxon warlock put it upon him to make their conquest easier.”
“Maybe it’s just a fever, but if not we should send for an exorcist,” remarked the underling.
Just as the healer was about to respond Udet drew upright in his bed. He began to speak in a demonic tenure while panting heavily.” Find me a whore so I can give her my seed.”
“But Lord you’re not well and you should wed a woman of noble--.”
“Shut-up,” groaned the demonically possessed Udet,” Fetch me a concubine!”
The underling looked over to the healer for some guidance, but Udet lunged out of bed onto the healer knocking him onto the floor.
“Perhaps you would like to fuck me?” growled the demon.
The healer now panicked, yells, “Get him off me!”
The underling goes to grab Udet along the arm but Udet grabs the underling on the wrist crushing the bones inside. The underling looses out a horrendous shriek of pain and stumbles back onto the ground cradling the mangled wrist. The underling begins crying as he examines the bloody fracture- bone is poking out and his arm won’t stop shaking.
Udet stands up over the healer and turns to the underling. There is blood across his face and around his jaw. The healer’s neck is chewed out.
“If you don’t wish his fate then you will fetch me a whore. And when I die and the Saxon’s conquer this kingdom you will make sure she weds a Saxon before her pregnancy is known. If you fail to do this a curse will come upon you that will make all this seem but a pleasant memory.”
The horrified underling nods in accordance and runs out of the bed chamber door clasping his arm.

Not five minutes later guards come with a woman of long dark brown hair and slender figure. A guard pushes the half open door fully revealing the bloody healers corpse. The concubine shrieks with fear and surprise and tries to turn away but a guard grabs her and pushes her in. She starts screaming but they lock the door with her inside.
She begins smacking her fists off the door yelling for them to let her out. She stops, noticing the room is very cold even though the fire place is a blaze. She starts rubbing her arms as she gazes around the room wondering why they put her here. She starts to hear deep breathing, like a man out of breath. The raspy noise draws her to look up where she sees the demon laying against the ceiling. The possessed smiles and tilts his head an impossible ninety degrees letting out a grinding crack.
The girl screams and begins stepping backwards towards the window while looking up at the demon. He turns over while still on the ceiling and crawls across towards her, forcing her into a corner.
The girl finally musters up enough confidence and says,” What do you want from me?”
The demon drops down from the ceiling not a few feet from the girl. He stares at her trying to look into her eyes as he walks closer to her. She turns her face away afraid of what she will see. The girl closes her eyes and starts saying words of her pagan rituals in an attempt to ward him off. The demon is now but inches from her face breathing his putrid cold air upon her. She starts to tremble and cry.
The demon grins. ”Your gods will not save you?”
The demon extends his bloody tongue and caresses it across her neck. The woman gasps.
“Please, have mercy on me demon.”
The demon steps back as the woman finally turns her head to face him. His eyes have become a dark crimson. The demon arches his brow in anger and throws out his arm grasping her by the neck lifting her off her feet.
The fallen angel looks deep into her eyes with anger and exclaims with a deep dark tone,” Never confuse me human, I am no demon! And by your blood I shall wait a thousand years where I will take my throne upon this world.”
Then he let the girl loose, letting her fall to the ground gasping for breath.
“Now you shall take my seed and this will all seem a small price for the many years of greatness you shall receive.”
The woman looked up to him and said, “What greatness do you speak of?”
The demons eyes cooled as he responded,” You will be a queen; you will give birth to my prince. You will know riches and privileges no peasant whore would ever experience.”
“And what price do I pay for all this?” inquired the girl.
“A price to be paid a thousand years from now when your time has long since passed a price that will let the dead walk the Earth.”
The girl pandered it for a second and in her greed could only think of the wealth she could have. No longer would she have to serve masters or to be used as a sexual implement. The choice was easy; death or life but at a cost she could not fathom or understand just like Udet before her.
The girl turned to the eager demon and said,” Yes I will do it.”
The demon chuckled with glee and walked up against the girl putting his mouth beside her ear, whispering. ”You never had a choice.”

Chapter Two
Repercussions

Many hundreds of years have passed by since the Udet kingdom fell. The genetic material that was laid in the king’s concubine by a demon has filtered down through many generations remaining dormant until its time of birth.
The year is 1995, a young girl sits playing with her doll in an eastern Canadian backyard. Its noon and the soft sunlight is gleaming all around her as her mother peers out her bedroom window with a careful eye. A handsome man in his mid-thirties gently walks up behind the woman, kissing her on the neck.
“Alexis, we have a few minutes before I go to Toronto…”
The woman turns around with a smile,” Jack, Jack, Jack, when are you going to become bored with me?”
Jack put his hand threw her chestnut hair. “When the stars stop shining.”
Alexis giggled. “God, you know I don’t like that corny stuff.”
“I know,” replied Jack, “But it worked ten years ago.”
Alexis looked him down, pushed him onto the bed behind him and pounced on top.
The little girl continued playing with her dolls while talking to an imaginary friend. “Gremory, Paula is your doll and Marie is mine. But I guess if you want to I could let you play with Marie for a bit. Would you like that?
The girl looked to the doll across from her, “OK here you go.”
She took the doll she had in her hands, exchanging it with the one across from her.
“No Gremory, you cannot have them both, that would not be fair.”
Suddenly the doll in her hands flew out hitting the doll across from her. The girl looked on astonished then began screaming as she stood up and made a dash for the backdoor of the house.
The girl came crashing into her parent’s bedroom screaming and crying.
Her parents were still under the covers fooling around. Alexis popped her head from under the covers. ”What’s a matter honey?”
“My doll,” replied the girl.
Awe. “What happened to your doll Sandy?”
“Paula jumped and hurt Marie.”
Jack slid out of bed and quickly put his pants back on. “Lexi, we’ll do this when I get back, I should go.”
He walked around the bed, kissed Sandy on the forehead. ”Be good to mommy while I’m gone.”
“I will daddy.”
Jack walked towards the door saying,” I’ll be back tomorrow around six.”
He turned back just before shutting the door. ”Love you both!”
They both responded,” Love you!”
After the door shut, Alexis picked up Sandy and put her on her lap.
“So what were you saying to me before daddy had to go?”
“Gremory took Paula from me and threw her at Marie.”
“Gremory?” inquired Alexis.
Sandy sniffled. “He’s my friend.”
Alexis smiled back knowing it was just an imaginary friend.” Well when Gremory misbehaves next time you call me, I’ll make sure to set him straight. Now you want to go get your brother and we’ll make some cookies?”
Sandy smiled. “Yes!” And jumped off her mom’s lap and ran out the door.
