A friend's reaction to a prediction of the future...
What if you foresee something happening?
Future's carpet is rolling out on the floor,
And those carpet threads are unraveling
Right near the feet of a friend you adore.

Of course, you cry and try to warn her,
About the evil lying right ahead.
But instead, she blames you, "That's Absurd!
Why do you frighten me so close to bed?

Just keep your predictions to yourself.
You have to stop screwing up my life."
For now we both put our cares on a shelf
Until it comes, the impending strife.

Now after this, what are you to do?
I hugged her and gently said, "It's all right."
She cried at her woes, at the warnings true
And I thought as we talked, on into the night.

By the morning, all is well in her world again.
The tears are forgotten, at least on her score.
Our friendship goes as it always has been
Until the carpet begins rolling once more.
