A poem of rhymes and signs about life.
I lay down to sleep as I do every now and then,
only my mind will stay awake to create the dreams within.
The visions that I dream come from my own creation,
of life in this world born through my imagination.
I walk the streets of illusion not knowing what I will find.
From the corner of Birth and Life, to the outskirts of my mind.
I skip past Childhood Place as I watch me eat ice-cream,
row, row, rowing my boat merrily down the stream.
When I get to Hope Street, I look through the window.
Embers of an old flame burning a soft, faint glow.
As I reach out my heart and my finger touches the door,
I can taste the salt running down my cheek once more.
I pass by Conflict and Interest, which is of none to me,
and race up Fast Lane to where I want to be.
I change to Slow Lane and stop at the light,
then hop onto Future Boulevard and take my next right.
The road is next to Family Circle, I've lovingly named Tree.
An added addition to Marriage Court for my wife and child to be.
Now I'm on my way back to the street of Life,
to raise my precious child with my loving wife.
These are the best times I'm sure I'll ever know.
To feel her love inside me and watch our child grow.
I stroll down Memory Lane after the young have grown old,
and come to the end of Life Street that splits at Fork Road.
As I watch loved ones pass me by, knowing their lives must go on,
I hope my choices will lead me to the One.
I see the castle of God's kingdom, but won't go through the door.
You see...it's by satin himself that I've been fooled before.
The way in is really around back, where nothing seems to grow.
Through a rusty, creaking gate that hangs a sign"DEATH ROW".
Down the cold, damp steps...past my fears and horrors,
through the winding corridors of my convictions and sorrows.
This is where it is...my Tunnel of Love,
named Everlasting Peace by the Lord above.
I can see the light ahead and walk to the end.
To meet our Lord Jesus, my closest and dearest friend.
