A poem about time running out in a quest for greatness
Racing Time

So close yet so far,
Wavering on the brink of desperation,
Giving in to the stormy waters
Holding my future by their salty fingertips.
Leaving my ragged ship as a painful reminder
Of dreams once dreamt and goals once within reach.
Swimming solitary in this battle
I brought upon myself
Waged by the seas of mortal perfection,
Pushing me closer to the edge.

Almost but not quite,
Swaying upon the bridges of fear,
Churning the waves as fast as I can,
Sweeping me farther from where I started.
Looking for my ragged ship that brought me here,
Searching for my dreams once dreamt.
Watching the battle become immersed in my panic,
Struggling for some light in these black waters,
Praying for a miracle
To bring me home before the clock runs out.
