Little Carol can't sit still.
The Story of Little Carol V.
By David A. Chalfant

Did you ever hear the story
of little Carol V.
She was always busy buzzing
like a busy buzzing bee.

She never could sit still
She was moving constantly
Inventing great inventions--
Though not everyone could see.

“Sit down!” they told that Carol.
Yes, that's what they always said,
Because they couldn't understand
What she was hatching in her head.

But she didn't.  Not that Carol V.
She didn't care if people thought
That she might be a little crazy,
'Cause she knew that she was not.

And then one day it happened--
Some hair-brained scheme panned out.
And when they saw that big thing working
They began to lose their doubt.

"Oh!" they said to Carol
"What an awesome thing you've done!"
"We always knew, right from the start,
you were a special one!"

Now, everybody loved her.
Now, they all wanted her around.
But secretly, I think, they hoped
That now she'd settle down.

But she didn't.  Not that Carol V.
No, she wasn't quite yet done.
She had other ideas hatching,
And she's not the only one.

So, if you should meet a kid like Carol.
Perhaps not Carol V.
If you're not going to help her grow...
Step aside and let her be.
