Inspiration can be a face in a sunset or a lonely road sign in the middle of nowhere.

"The Sign To Nowhere"

I found the sign to nowhere
cast high upon a rod
with arrows pointing both ways
but which one was to God?

One was pointing to the left
the other to the right.
One arrow to the shadows,
the other in the light.

High atop this barren hill
the wind caressed my cheek.
I was standing at a crossroads
waiting for someone to speak.

There I stood in puzzlement
afraid to make a choice.
The sign had no direction,
I could not hear a voice.

I saw the sun was setting
beneath the western sky,
then I knew which way to go
and so the reason why.

Someone had been watching me,
he knew my story well.
The time had come for me to go
there was no more to tell.

Finch the light
