What happens when a scientist tries to escape winter and coldnesss

“Ugh” said James, otherwise known as Dr. Camero, as he woke up to another winter morning in New York City. He had been suffering through a cold front for the past two weeks and he was sick of it. However, he had been perfecting a top secret invention inside his lab with help from his intern, Miles. He was happy today because he would finally be commencing his top secret plan. As James stared out his apartment window and down onto New York he thought “ Ah, it's snowing. Oh well, it won't last for long.” He then said “ I will have my escape.” and chuckled to himself.

“Hello Miles” said James as he entered his lab. “Hello Dr. Camero” said Miles as he was sorting through some paperwork. “Ready to begin the escape?” “Very much” Replied James as he walked over to a tarp covering a large shape. As he pulled it away a grin crossed his face. “Yes, it's finally done” “Well.....um....... not exactly” said Miles, nervously. “WHAT?” yelled James. “Well...... the reactor...... it's...it's not ready. The chemical you want.....it's very hard to get” stammered Miles. “Well then improvise, use the backup chemical” James said, pouring a strange liquid from a red beaker into the machine.
The machine was hundreds of feet high and resembled a missile launcher. It's purpose was to drive away the cold, but not the snow. This way James could watch kids play in the snow. He found interest in this for some reason.
A few minutes later the machine was pointed into the sky and was charged up. Miles and James were hiding behind the desk. James was using an extremely long pole to push the start switch. There was a huge flash of bright light. Then everything went black for James and Miles.

When they woke up James ran to the window and pulled back the drapes. All he saw was ice. He went out side and slipped onto his bottom. He looked around. He saw giant blocks of ice with people inside them, New Yorkers, people. He realized what had happened. “Oh no” muttered James.
