an architect goes to work and everything changes
Hector, a thirty two year old Architect, had a deadline to submit his designs to the firm. He worked all night using the luminosity of a light bulb so that he didn't disturb his sleeping girlfriend Ruby. The alarm went off; Ruby woke up and got ready for her job while he was finishing his work. She left while he was still working. He was done by noon. He got ready for work but didn’t realize that he wore a pair of mismatched socks due to his exhaustion. He found that he had no clean pants, so he decided to wear shorts. No need for formalities, I’m not meeting any of the clients today, just submitting it John He thought to himself. He got ready and opened the door, drawings in his hands, he met one of his neighbors who sounded surprised to meet him.

“Hi, there Nick” said Hector

“Wow! You still alive” with a surprised tone, Nick replied.

Hector was too busy to answer he walked to work. People who knew him stared at him in a surprise. There is something wrong, but what is it? Questions filled Hector’s mind. He reached the firm, the security men were stunned to see him, but none of them dared to prevent him to enter. He directed himself towards John’s office, his boss.

Ruby was there sitting on the secretary’s desk, he gazed at her what is she doing here? He thought. He approached her and kissed her, she pushed him away. The door was open and John entered to give some of the working drawings to his secretary, he realized Hector gazed at him and asked. “What are you doing here? I fired you.” John said trying to hold his laughter from Hector’s outfit.

“I am here to submit the drawings. The deadline is due today.” Hector stared at him with wide eyes

“No, the deadline was five years ago!” John pointed at Ruby, “help him out or call security sweet heart, I don’t want him here”

“SWEET HEART?!”

“Didn’t you know she is my wife now!” John said and put his arms on Ruby’s shoulders.

Hector tossed his drawings, and left the company. He wandered in the streets. What’s going on? When did she get married? Lots of questions wandered in Hector’s mind until a huge flying creature grabbed Hector’s shoulders and flew away with him. Hector was scared, yet, he couldn’t fight his urge to sleep since he had spent days without sleeping in order to finish his work.

Hector woke up to find himself in a huge nest, surrounded with giant onions, or at least that’s what he thought. Next to him was a young woman seemed to be in her early twenties. He gazed at her and asked, “Where am I?”

“In Marvana’s nest.” She replied coldly

“What?”  Confusion was clear all over hector’s face.

“A huge creature, half bird half dinosaur, feeds on humans who don’t belong to this time.” She said looking at the ground. Can’t tell him the truth. She thought.

He looked around and found that she got different kinds of weapon with her.

“Why are carrying all these weapons?”

“To kill Marvana, but I can’t do it alone.” She said showing him a box of matches.

“Why?” He stared at it

“Scared, I got a phobia of fire.” She said trembling. She showed him another weapon and said, “And that’s a ww2 era gun with one bullet, I am bad at aiming.”

Marvana appeared.

Hector took the box of matches from her and lit the fire to burn the nest.

“NO!” screamed the girl

The onions started to heat up, they began moving. It’s not onions, its eggs! Hector’s thoughts yelled at him. The fire helped the eggs to hatch, the creatures inside fed on fire.

Hector gazed at the girl angrily, “Why didn’t you tell me?” the girl grabbed the world war two weapon and shot Hector directly at the heart.

Suddenly, Hector retuned back to his time, the day when he was supposed to deliver his work. He found a note on his bed.

         Dear Hector,

I sent you back to fix what went wrong. This was a glimpse from the future. Marvana is a creature created by the sun tower that you were working on. It absorbs the power of the sun in order to kill every living thing on the planet. You must prevent that tower from existing.

Ps. Ruby loves John, let her go to the love of her life.

         Yours,

Katrina the Protectress of Time and Planet Earth.

Hector called John. “Hi, John, I quit.” Hector said in a confident voice.

The cell phone started beeping Hector looked at it. Great a cell phone with a low battery!

John was about to say something but the battery died.

Hector looked around for Ruby found her still sleeping. Hope I’m doing the right thing, prevent building the sun tower and leave Ruby. Hector left the house and built himself a villa in the best spot he could find on earth and made his own job.
