The future, Earth is gone, and colonists survie on their own. And Raxus IV is corrupt
It starts off with an introduction, saying how after Earth fell, the lawless ruled, but were evuantally wiped out. It focuses on one colonly called Raxus IV. It's only an island surroneded by a vast ocean. They have trouble feeding themselves, so they often have a famine. Raxus IV evuantally becomes the first colony back into space, caused by finding a starship. They build an empire, and lose it to unrest.
After that, is the tale of Rolan. He is Gustav's father. He's sadtistic. He yelled at his neighbors, buning in their house to shut up. Afterwards, is the tale of Gustav, and it deals with how he only wants not to be like Rolan.
