Why is it that journeys that start so well end up so ....!
"I love going out with you, why do you think that I would never do what you ask me to?" I asked.

My fiance knew that I hated his job and it had to do with visiting some of the African countries in efforts to help them. The thing is that I am of an African origin and I would never mind taking him anywhere close home. I loved adventure and the aspect of an Africa safari would always light my little universe. The great grasslands of Africa never ran short of items to display to its visitors right from the great rivers, to the mountains, right from the versatile bird species to the wild animals that grazed and hunted in the savanna grasslands. Who would not want to go and visit my home but my fiance thought I never wanted to accompany him but I was just busy and never had time to go with him to the jungle safaris. Therefore, this time round I thought of packing my things and we would go with one more couple so as to make it more fun. We thought of visiting one the famous river rapids where we would stay there for one or two nights in the western part of Africa. We loved the idea but we would not be sure unless we made the necessary bookings that night. We paid a ticket for two as Mark and Jennifer paid for theirs.

We started off on a journey that would end up a little bit out of this world. Once we reached our destination I must agree the hotel was more than we expected since it had everything right from great customer care services to their hospitality etiquette, I must admit the receptionist was quite attractive, she somewhat left me on edge after Dennis stared at her for too long. I had to snap at him so that he could quit his deja vous moment. Anyway, I noticed the same with Jen but she seemed more relaxed than I did. Anyway, they gracefully picked our luggage and the hotel had every essence of an African heritage right from the general furnishing to the tiny details of the wall construction. We loved it anyway, and our friends went to the room opposite from ours. At least, we will not have to hear them doing their little mambo jambo stuff.

The following day we thought of going out to the river for a boat ride. It was great but I had this strange feeling about the place and I could not place my finger on it. It was too ambiguous considering that I could not remember the last time I had a feeling like that. The last time, I felt a thing like that it ended up nasty but then I thought ...Why not have a good time? We went back for lunch after seeing some of the monkeys and one of the most beautiful horn bills while one the river tour. I thought I saw something in the bushes but anyway, the tour guide seemed calm so we went back to the hotel had our lunch before embarking on our walking nature trail. Then I heard one of the natives shout to the tour guide, "Waambie waondoke hapa, mungu wa mto huu hafurahishwi na wao!" Well I did not understand what they meant but these words kept replaying in my mind all the time. The tour guide said something like, "Lazima tumpate aliyechaguliwa!" I did regret not taking some language classes while at home.

That night, Jennifer and Mark stole one of the boats at night and asked us to keep an eye on them while they went for an adventure. A few minutes while still on the river we noticed a small misty thing approaching them and Mark started making fun of Jenny while swinging the boat, "Uuuh, here comes the mist, run for your life..." Jenny started screaming, "MARK STOP IT!" The next thing Mark was not there he vanished. Jenny started screaming... "CLAUDIA... MARK IS GONE!" Okay, that was really strange, so we rushed back to the hotel and asked for help while Jenny was still screaming outside. The stuff came out to check what was going on and all over sudden there was pin drop silence besides the crickets in the forest. "JENNY, JENNY! JENNY WHERE ARE YOU!" I screamed so loudly I did not even notice that I was not the only one looking for her. We all started calling out their names but the stuff did not look as frightened as we were. They tried to calm us down and asked us to look for them in the morning. I cried the whole night wondering what could have happened to them. The following day, we thought of searching for them and a few meters from the hotel one of the locals noticed some blood trails and immediately we were instructed to go back to the hotel. Dennis was so mad... that he vowed he would go to that river that night and see what could have happened.

I vowed that I would rather die with Dennis or vanish with him than live another day not knowing what was going on. Then around the same time, the same cloud approached our boat but all I know I have never seen anything like it. It tore Dennis into shreds and then submerged with him into river. I did not know what was going on but I think I screamed my lungs out. Then it came back, looked at me in the eyes with its dark red eyes, a devil's incarnate, the fangs dripped with saliva, its whole being covered with dark fur and I think I produced something like a sound but sure as hell I was not alive.. I was in another world. Then, I saw people all over the river bank, some amazed and some overwhelmed with joy. Oh my it was morning, I was stinking, dripping wet with sweat, and I think I peed on myself ... I screamed so hard when the images flashed across my mind. It took close to two hours before they calmed me down and once I was calm. I started asking what they meant by some words where I learned that the native who shouted at our tour guide said, "Tell them to get out of here, the gods of the river do not find this visit pleasant!" so the tour guide had to risk our lives so as to find their "chosen one!" So he told the Native guy, that they must find the chosen one... ME! I lied to them and promised to visit them once I got permission from the lords of the land I came from ..., and this is my story when I lost consciousness the thing thought I was dead and I WILL NEVER BE THE CHOSEN ....ONE!!!!!
