The head and heart in a perpetual skirmish
I see this acumen choked on some unknown,
Expanse that throws logicians off their course;
Nauseous in a roundabout of rhetoric.
I exert myself to isolate the source,

That wrenched me up to reach for the cologne,
A collar, with patterns blotted up the back,
A host of gimmicks ending with eccentric,
Gags; displaying tenure of the pack.

It was a certain abdication of the throne,
When dimples and the solitude was shared,
Within the mess of sheets; with souls electric,
I slept, whilst the statistician stared.

I sent a necklace off to the unknown,
To keep the smile beaming on the Queen
(With little thought towards the econometric),
I was pulling down on every slot machine,

And still! Just a poodle with a bone,
Trying to scratch an itch that flared up at the start,
In those sheets; I did anything to fetch it.
Acting without logic in my heart,

And tired of whispered pathos on the phone,
I swept away my job and opportunity,
(Provoked by that dangle of a stick),
And travelled to an alien community.

A community that laughed at our ambition,
That architected certain apprehensions;
Pertaining to my lack of education
The irony, that brought me to attention,

To the fact: this would never come to fruition,
Not then, not now, nor anytime in my life,
We built it on the flimsiest of foundations;
With jealousy and possession running rife,

In those lonely months, a question of attrition,
As the warmth became unfocused and redundant.
The words, (scrawled with Hollywood citations)
A devise to surge against the grin of pundits,

Who didn’t bother quoting odds, the omission
I fear, would border on the comical.
Still buoyant from the intrigue and persuasion,
We moved to call the passion astronomical.

Distance drowned us with its definition,
As gulps of water brought me back to reason.
To rectify the sting of separation,
Was for a certain time and certain season.
