Not everyone's first love can bloom to its full beauty. It may be nipped in the bud, even.
As upon the fresh blossomed flowers does settle the morning dew,
As the gentle morn like elixir transform all to gold;
Your soft radiance, o beauty, bedims all else from view,
Your loveliness does surpass them manifold.

On a spring afternoon I saw you thus,
The setting sun through the trees reached for your face;
And like burnished gold your cheeks were aflush,
My heart at the vision did madly race.

Like unfathomed oceans your eyes are,
Where reflected are the stars in the canopy of heaven above;
The calm glance you bestow me puts my mind to rest,
And fills my mind with a sea of love.

Your voice is as sweet as a woodland stream,
That rushes down the hills in a thousand ripples;
Your sparkling smile is like a dream,
As like petals of the rose are your cheeks with dimples.

I haven’t come across a beauty so fair,
As when I saw you on that blustery day;
The wind played with the wisps of your hair,
Bringing them back down when you swept them out of way.

Forever will I cherish the memories,
Of your endearing loveliness that filled my days;
For memories are all that I have left,
When at last we’re come to the parting of our ways.

May your life be happy and free,
Thus goes a silent lip’s prayer;
Look no more for me in your sunlit glades,
For I’ll no longer be there.
