A post-apocalyptic world, devastated by nuclear war, what will it be like?
The war’s over, peace reigns at last,
A ringing silence prevails after the final blast.
Perpetual night lingers all over,
The sun cannot pierce the hydrogen cover.

The earth reeks of death and flooded with sorrow,
For none on the planet there will be a tomorrow.
Survival instinct can take you only thus far,
Whither can you fly when the poison’s in the air?

Technology and science has been man’s loyal friend,
They’ve brought mankind to its logical end.
With calculated precision, they’ve left no one bereaved,
What grief can there be, when none’s left to grieve?

A time used to be, when hearts would break,
With grimaced faces, people bore the pain;
Now broken bodies litter the world,
No pain will they ever feel again.

Fossilized will be the corpses at length,
Buried will be the signs of civilization;
Nature will go about its own way,
For She knows no boundaries, knows no nation.

But no longer will the flowers bloom,
No longer will any creature be seen;
The Garden of Eden lies defiled at last,
Darkness falls where light had been.

The earth will continue on its revolution,
The sun will again rise tomorrow;
But different will this planet be from all the others,
For this is a dead world, a silent world, a world which ended in sorrow.
