A journey of a thousand miles...of mystery and wonder...this is my tale.
Only the swishing of a paddle through water interrupts the heavy silence. Above me, stars are spilled out over the heavens, winking silently, secretly. The enormous round moon hangs just above the black horizon, beckoning me. I paddle forward, my tiny boat a mere piece of driftwood in a never-ending sea. Land disappeared behind me a long time ago.
I set out on this journey alone, with only my pen and a peeling brown book. The pages are empty, so empty. They are calling out to me to be filled with all the adventures I may encounter.
I am called Eris, and I am a dream seeker. Aren't we all? For, though some choose not to pursue them, do we not all harbor a special, wistful wish? Yes, we all have our field of dreams. Can you not see it, reader -- picture your field in your mind . . . the one area in your life that fires your passion like nothing else. That one field is your art, your expression -- the one area where you can properly voice your dream.
This journey of mine is something of a paradox. For I have not set out to pursue my dream -- I have come to find it. What is it that I can chase after with all my heart? What is it?
Yes, this is a journey of a thousand miles. And like that wise one once said, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
This, reader, is my first step.
