Something I wrote when I was 19 years old. I'm going to start working on it again.
Please remember this poem was written in 1991. It is part of a collection of teenage poetry I would like to get published. I would like to collect an array of poetry written by teenagers, to fill my book "Teenage Treasures".

BLUE RAIN

Blue rain...
dripping down my face as I stare distantly out the window. My eyes are puffy balls of cotton and my makeup runs down my face. I rub the heel of my palm against my chest while I try to catch my breath. I bend forward laying my head on my arms as I think of you. You’re on my mind all the time. I can only dream of being with you. You have been gone so long. I wonder, “Does he still love me?” I barely remember what it’s like to feel your touch. I hardly remember the smooth sound of your voice. It’s been far too long. Yet, I can see your eyes. Your decadent brown eyes. So many memories in those eyes. Too many moments lost. But still I wait for you.

Blue rain...
dripping down my windows as I hear the phone ring. It’s you…the man I love. You tell me you love me. You say you miss me too. You hate that my heart is breaking. You stop speaking long enough to gain control again. Not a day…not an hour…not a minute goes by without you thinking of me. You tell me everything I want to hear.  Then you softly whisper, “Baby, I’m coming home.”

Blue rain...
dripping down my house as I wait for your arrival. I hear your car pull up and I run outside to meet you. You wrap me in your arms so tightly. As you kiss me tenderly my lips quiver, my body shudders and my knees go weak. We sail back inside and slip into bed. The lights go out and we make sweet love. You look at my face and blue rain is dripping down it.
