A poem describing the loss of a cherished partner and her companionship.
You and met for the first time.
When everything was sublime.
Both of us enjoyed youth in full bloom.
Unaware about the forthcoming gloom.
Initially the contacts were limited to friendship.
Later they developed in another form of relationship.
The seeds of love had paved their way in life
At this age it was something full of rife
My heart was attracted by your blue eyes
And your chiseled face.
Our passion grew at a giant's pace.
Our parents were aware about the infatuation.
Out of curiosity they inquired about this relation.
For many years dating continued clandestinely.
Until our parents consented officially.
After the union our home was filled with happiness.
But afterward it was invaded by darkness.
All our dreams shattered into pieces.
There was accumulation of so many losses.
You had become a victim of destiny.
Yes.... life was no longer shiny.
Incurable disease forced you to fight against death
Till your very last breath
Bereaved of you, I am one of the few
To wonder who can. replace you
How will I achieve peace of mind
When I have lagged behind?
