She had a hard time, and just wanted to fly.
With a stony expression on her face

And lifeless eyes

Her mind was finally set

She wanted to fly.

They told her not to worry

She was doing just fine

But little did they know

She was already dead inside.

She pulled on her sneakers

And zipped up her coat

She reached for her favorite necklace

And left behind a note.

She climbed up the forsaken building

Gentle and slow

Her steps were strong and steady

She was ready to go.

Once at the top

She looked up at the sky

She saluted the stars

Craving to be that high.

Spreading out her arms

And closing her eyes

She took one last step

Whispering “I'm alive.”
