Written while working through grief
TOUCHSTONES

Today is better than yesterday
But yesterday was awful.
Each day is new and different;
Not better and maybe not hopeful.

Some days bring denial.
Some bring happiness.
And sometimes glee sneaks in there
And surprises me, I confess.

I long for the days looking forward
And the days that we planed in fun.
But the days right now are mine alone
And they seem to weigh a ton.

Sunshine can be a downer
And rain can sometimes bring cheer.
My days and feelings confuse themselves
As I trudge through thoughts and fears.

I hope the rainbows appear very soon
With bluebirds flying over.
At least my fantasies bring hope
Skipping through the clover.
