Poppyfields
In the end
The red flower paints the fields over us
In Indian summer
Peace
The hum of bees
The low drone of sedated
breathing
And a blur seen from drooping eyes
The opiate of the masses
In comfort closes the doors
Draws the silken shades
Gently
And whispers loving words
Beside us the cool river runs
Through poppyfields that stretch for miles
Where once armies gathered
Now here they sleep
Armor clad with rust
Here they sleep among crimson petals
Here they sleep amid the dust
The buzzing of atoms around us
Harmonious
Sonorous
Light through the veins
And we feel immediately at peace
A hypnotic wave of ambience
Softly soaks us from the sky
A calming breeze of transience
And the narcotic lullaby
There is no pain
Here
As we sink
Into the numbing dream
