Hairspray

“What are you looking at?”

“There’s something in your hair.”

“What?” Janice said reaching up.

“Don’t! I’ll get it. It might be tangled!” Joe said quickly.

“Oh. Well, try not to pull my hair. It isn’t something gross, is it?”

“I don’t think so, it looks shiny. Maybe like tin foil or something?”

“I hope it’s not somebody’s sandwich wrapper or something!”

“Too small. Hold still I’ve almost got it.”

Joe pulled his hands down and there cradled in one hand was a small shiny squarish piece of silver colored box of metal or something. They looked at it together.

“What is it?” Janice asked.

“I don’t know,” Joe said as they both reached out to touch it at the same time.

Suddenly a gust of wind came up from below and it literally blew straight up out of Joe’s hand then off to the side and over the nearby trees out of sight.

“Pfft, now we’ll never know!” Janice said, brushing back her hair as they continued their walk

Beyond the trees Captain Greldick’s heart was slowing down, “That was close,” he whispered to himself, then, “Is everyone alright?”

“Everyone seems to be fine sir! What was that strange vegetation we were caught in?”

“Apparently it’s called hair. It’s only sticky when it’s covered with an earth concoction called hair spray.”

“And the earthlings allow it to grow on them? Ick!”

“Reynolds! We do not make judgements about aliens!”

“Yes Sir, sorry Sir!”

Captain Greldick turned quickly so no one would see him chuckle. He had always thought earthlings were weird. Composing himself quickly he turned back, reeling in his eighteen appendages, and focusing his twelve eyes on the instrument panel before he melted back into his cannister.

“Return to base,” he commanded authoritatively.

So they did.
