This year is a special one.
Oh, this year is a special one.
It has an extra day.
They stuck it on the second month.
It seems to work that way.

But February is still short.
Yeah, even with this bump.
It doesn’t get respect at all;
they treat it like a chump.

Hey, four months all have thirty days
and more have thirty-one.
So February gets the shaft,
when all is said and done.

It usually has twenty-eight.
One more makes twenty-nine.
That doesn’t bring it up to snuff.
No, it is far from fine.

Those Romans are the culprits here.
Yeah, they’re the ones to blame.
They juggled with the calendar,
then added their own names.

July and August won the prize.
Each got an extra day.
And that left February short;
it just turned out that way.

So now they act like it’s okay.
“Here, we’ll give you one more.
Come back in just a year or two.
Ohhh… better make that four.”

If you ask me, the whole things off.
The system’s out of whack.
‘Cause it may get an extra day
but then they take it back.

So February is still short.
It’s cold and dreary too.
But no one asked for my advice
so, hey, what can I do?
