What roads we travel, what paths we follow -

What roads we travel,
What paths we follow,
Leading us to others
Who either become
So dear to us
That we cannot imagine
Losing them or
Sometimes we just pass
Like ships in the night,
But it wasn't that way
With you and LaureAnne.
I am saddened beyond belief
That someone so decent,
So kind and caring,
Could be lost
In a twinkling of an eye.
I am glad that
I got to know you
And I thank God
For giving us time together,
Even so short a time.
LaureAnne told me
You died in her arms,
The way it should have been
If it had to be;
You were everything to each other.
I will miss you, my friend.
Yet in the evening
When I look up at the stars
I will picture you there,
When I hear the whispering
Of the breeze in the forest
I will hear your voice;
When I see the morning sun
I will know that it is
Going to be all right.
You were a special person
You will live on
In our hearts
Forever.
