The story is about an intoxicated man haunted by the one he killed.
The year was 1969 in a remote town called Prairie. Two men were well acquainted witih each other. One was the town's drunk and the other was a hard worker, well-liked by everyone. Phil, the town's drunk was driving one afternoon. Fully intoxicated, he ran off the side of the road striking and killing Ernie now left lifeless or was he? Two days had passed when Henry and Lois Canfield had gone down the same road driven by Phil two days earlier. The Canfield's pulled over and offered Ernie a ride. Ernie responded he didn't need a ride but he needed to know who killed him two days earlier. The Canfield's always kept their eyes and ears opened to the town gossip. They knew who it was and told Ernie. Leaving Ernie, they went back to town.

Ernie, within minutes, was there at Phil's house. Inside no less and was looking at the one who had killed him. Phil was about to sit down to his meal just prepared and placed on the table. The wall phone rang. He answered the phone, giving Ernie enough time to get the plate of food thrown on the floor. Sure enough, that is where it ended up. Phil came back to the table. Wondering how in the world that happened. Without delay an snswer came from the house that said: "I did it!" Phil looked around and sure enough, Ernie had taken human form again instead of a spirit and told Phil to turn himself into the police. He, Phil, refused. Ernie promised to keep on hounding Phil until he did. Days and nights passed that some of the people in town walking by Phil's house saw two men in there. They quiried what was going on. The Canfield being full of information told who that second man was. Back at Phil's home he was getting very agitated at Ernie and told him: "I killed you before, I can do it again." Not thinking of what he was saying he had his gun, rifle ready to blast Ernie back into the world of the dead, supposedly again. Only to find that Ernie wasn't put back about that. He told Phil that if he did he would blow the house and himself. He, Phil, lost reality at that point. Aimed, fired, the house was blown to shreds and now two ghosts walk the earth or shall I say one of them. The other, the first one, Ernie now is resting in the graveyard.
