Penny In The Heart

Memories of a penny
Etched deep within my heart
From lessons my Papa taught
That never will depart

"Come my little darling
Sit upon your Papa's knee
See that shining little penny
It's gold to you and me

You and I - my Jenny
Should let the love of God
Shine like this little penny
Sealed within the jar

And just like this penny
Engraved in the center part
We should have God's words
Etched deep within our heart

Your heart is like this penny
That you so dearly love
If you cherish and protect it
You're sure of treasures above

So my darling little Jenny
As you can plainly see
Lessons from the penny
Is gold to you and me"
