PLEASANT DREAMS, LOVE

You were sixteen, kind of shy,
Content to let the world pass by;
I just turned twenty-one,
Seems that life had just begun.

Holding hands, we said goodnight,
While kissing in the pale moonlight;
You broke away and ran inside;
I knew someday you'd be my bride.

"Pleasant Dreams, love" I had said,
So many thoughts whirled in my head;
Dreams of years ahead with you,
Life fulfilled, dreams come true.

Fifty years have come and gone,
Only one left to carry love on;
Life together a thing of the past,
Pleasant dreams, love, will always last.
