A heart-broken lover’s conversation with self
SELF CONVERSATION

“Why are you so struck by grief?
Have you a treasure lost?
Whither your radiant smile?
Why such a gloomy frost?”

“Yes, I have lost all I had.
Today I’m all alone.
My friend, sweet-heart, fiancée,
My life partner is gone.

She was the joy of my day
And the dream of my night,
She, my only ray of hope,
Is not now by my side.”

“O heart-broken, love-lorn fool!
Why do you lament so?
That you lost something you had,
Is false, why don’t you know?

You loved her, there is no doubt.
But did she love you too?
Had she loved you in her heart,
She just won’t have left you.

No, your love was one sided.
Nor she is to be blamed.
She felt never bound to you.
None needs to feel ashamed.

Get up and go on in life
You must move on forward.
Forget it, it was a dream,
A little sweet reward”.
