............................
Sapphires cling to soft skin,
Then slide down like a sliver off an iceberg,
Troubles cascading beneath the icy waters,
Far below where the water and sunlight embrace,
And dance the last dance of the night.

Desiring to stay concealed beneath the surface,
Not wanting to interrupt,
Yet wanting to breathe in the breath of life,
And feel the sunset smile on me as well.

Waiting beneath the surface,
Motionlessly struggling to remain alive,
Bubbles seeping off my skin,
And flying towards the light.

The bubbles joining in the dance,
As hope rises with them.

Will they notice me,
And invite me to join them?
Or will I remain here,
Until the sunlight is gone?

Debating on whether to intrude,
Or remain,
Life seeps from me.

The life bubble flees to the surface,
Stronger than determination,
Exploding in a desperate cry.

The sunlight flickers quickly,
Pressing against the water,
Deciding how to help.

Water lifting me upward,
Swirling around me
Like the air beneath a hummingbird's wing.

Opening my eyes,
I feel the sun melting me,
In a beautiful display,
Until I become a part of the water.

And we danced.

Together,
All enjoying the other's company,
Enjoying the last dance,
Before the sun and water met no more.
