Summary of this Book...
When California Morning Whipple is uprooted by her mother from her comfortable Massachusetts home and hauled like a sack of flour to a mining camp named Lucky Diggins, she resents the fact that there staying. Dreaming one day, she deceides that the name California isn't for a girl that hates dirt and dust and for then on calls herself Lucy. But she even surprises herself in the end, when she discovers that Massachusetts isn't home unless her family is there with her.
I especially liked...
the main charector, Lucy. Her feelings are so clearly expressed so I can relate to them.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
try my hand at writing a story about a mining camp.
This Book made me feel...
angry at her mother, sad because she loses part of herself along with her family, and happy because she finds her real dreams.
The author of this Book...
wrote the story in a way that drew me into it. I believe a few more descriptions might help the book, but the rest of it is satisfying.
I recommend this Book because...
it is a good read and helps you see the mining life from the eyes of a thirteen year old girl who thinks miners are dirty, smelly, and plain not nice.
