Summary of this Book...
Gabria is an exile, and the sole survivor of her clan.

Her family and people are all dead; she performed the barial of her father and brothers herself.

But after such a task, and no place to hold her, Gabria realilzes that she needs to seek shelter with another clan; but acceptance of an exile, especially a woman exile, is usually based on that womans tallents or looks.
Unfortunately, Gabria doesn't seem to have much of either. But she does have something else; she has anger and hate for her family's killer... and a dead twin brother's identity to assume.

Things only become more interesting as she finds a Hunnuli mare, a horse prized among the clans. These horses have a strong affiliation with myth and magic. Though the practice of magic is a death sentence... on the other hand, so is pretending to be a woman and joining with another clan in hopes of vengence.
This type of Book is good for...
Entertainment; it also has a strong female character, who goes though pretending to be male in a pretty male society; something women in our culture have done before as well, so it may give some a better perspective. Still, it is a fantasy, and is really only meant as entertainment.
I recommend this Book because...
It continually has another thing happening in the plot. You get more information, and wonder what is going to happen. I also winced a few times when Gabria made stupid mistakes.
Further Comments...
If you like romance, it has a little of that, and if you like action, it definately has that as well; something is always happening, including raids, wars, and your average mountain lion attack...

It's sword and sorcery, with the questions of changing times and the press of war. It makes a good book.
