An excellent read for any baseball fan. Ralph Kiner looks back on his career with the Pirates, giving the reader an inside look at the life of a big time baseball player from a bygone era. Ralph crossed paths with luminaries from inside and outside the world of MLB, and his anecdotes and recollections are entertaining and candid. Few people have seen as many baseball games as Ralph Kiner has, and he voices his astute opinions on the game with candor and refreshing honesty, without resorting to cheap shots or cloying nostalgia. As a longtime NY Mets fan, I have enjoyed and marveled at Kiner's incredible storehouse of baseball wisdom for my entire life, and this book is as good as I expected it to be. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who truly loves the game. If you are only familiar with Mr. Kiner for his occasional malpropisms, and only view him as a Rizzuto-like "homer" announcer, do yourself a favor & read this book. Ralph Kiner is a national treasure.
