Strolling through life in monocolor, Richard Jenkins' character, a lonely college professor, travels to New York to conference a paper and, via a serendipitous meeting of an Arab man and an African woman, is tempted to embrace a life of vibrant colors once again.

"The Visitor" is an uplifting movie that celebrates the human spirit.

I enjoyed the movie's portrayal of true and loyal, albiet unexpected, friendship.

Richard Jenkins' 50th performance in a movie, yet his first starring role, which just earned him an Oscar nomination.

I recommend this DVD because of the beautiful ideas it illustrates: life is a gift to be lived and strangers we see are just friends we haven't met yet.

This movie celebrates life, presenting the possibility that happiness could be around the next corner.
