This is a very complete book for anyone looking to learn to work with their chakras. Horlsey begins by going over the basics the chakras, aura and energy. She then delves into these topics deeper through color coded chapters – this is a nice touch and once you know the associated colors of each chakra, it makes it easy for you to turn to the section you want to work with along with it added a pleasing visual display.

The chapters begin with the (1) The Aura then move on to (2) The Seven Main Chakras – which is then sectioned off into the colored section. The information given for each of the seven includes: location, purpose, color, element, sense, symbol, age, physical connections, glands, sound, vowel, mantra, gemstones, aromatherapy oils, reflex areas on the hand and foot, foods, balanced energy, and unbalanced or blocked energy. The first page of each section also provides a sidebar with a brief description of each of these categories which is then expanded on throughout the section. Each chakra ends with suggestions on how to balance it.

After the seven chakras, chapter 3 brings us to the minor chakras where we are given excercises to work with them: earth star, top of foot, knee, hip, palm of the hand, door of infants, tan tien, shenchueh, ming meng, spleen, chungwang, chimen, kalpavriksha, linghsu, thymus, shoulders, back of the throat, lalana and bindu vishargha, alta major, eye, soma, and soul star chakras.

Chapter 4 Chakra Asanas Postures gives us more yoga positions and gives information on how and when to start your practice. Warm up movements are included followed by everal dozen positions all color coded to their matching chakra.

Chapter 5 Prayama Breath Control, is of course all about the correct breathing methods. Chapter 6 finishes off the book with bringing meditation into your practice.

If you are just looking for information on the chakras, then this book is too much for you, if you really want to start an actual practice – then this book is for you.
