Summary of this Book...
Kit Tolliver is a troubled woman. She picks strange men up at bars, goes home, sleeps with them and then kills them. Sometimes she's even taken their name and credit cards. A comment she hears makes her think about the men who she'd slept with and not killed. She starts off on a mission to set things right. Along the way she finds love and companionship.
This type of Book is good for...
This book is exactly what it says it is. It's a novel of sex and violence. This is for thriller readers who don't mind a strong erotic or sexual element.
I especially liked...
Lawrence Block is an amazing writer. He took what could have been the worst book ever published and made it an engrossing read that was hard to put down. He has an amazing way with words.
I didn't like...
The was nothing I didn't like about it, other than not being able to recommend it to my prudish friends.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I wanted to find more of his work and I have. I had never read anything he'd written before and now I'm a fan. Most of his work is not like this. Try his Hit Man series. Another great read.
This Book made me feel...
It made me feel like I needed to spend more time honing mt own craft to one day be a quarter as talented as he is.
The author of this Book...
This book was written by Lawrence Block, best known for his Matthew Scudder character.
I recommend this Book because...
If you want to read a true master, then try this book. If the content doesn't scare you away, you'll be happy you did. It's well worth the read.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It's graphic and that's not for all people.
Further Comments...
I've been reading for a long time and not many authors can surprise me. Perhaps I'm a little jaded or just been through what most authors have to offer. Fun, predictable, easy reads are great but when an author comes along and really WOWs you from the story, all the way down to his writing style that's something special. I believe this book is something special. At the same time, it's not for everybody. I tell people it was the greatest, most disturbing book I've read in a long time.
