Summary of this Book...
Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Melark are whisked away as tributes to fight to the death against 22 other teens in the 74th annual Hunger Games, but the horrors don't stop there. Their triumph in the arena fuels a rebellion against the corrupt Capitol government of the country of Panem. The twelve districts wage war against the capitol causing bloodshed, but nothing hurts so deep as the pain in Katniss Everdeen's heart. As the Mockingjay she shines as the rebellion's symbol and hope, but all is not well inside her. During her trials she has to choose between two boys who hold equal halves of her heart and decide to face the terrors of rebellion and death putting her family and district at risk or flee spelling certain death for the hope of a better future for Panem.

***

All three of the books in this series now rank in my top ten list. Catching Fire was my favorite, but all of them were absolutely brilliant works of art.

Every element in these books was well executed from the convincing characters to the descriptions of the crazy fashions of the Capitol. The evidence of tons of world building is everywhere bringing the story to a new level of life.

All of the books had very tragic elements too them especially Mockingjay, but with each chapter you are moved on so the memory of sadness is whisked away and replaced with your desire to know what happens next. I was holding my breath through each book.
This type of Book is good for...
Making you think about what the world would be like if we let our culture and government become as corrupt as Panem's. I can see it happening in the media and in the government now so it filled me with an almost haunting feeling making me hope something like the Hunger Games never happens in my life. But this book is also good as a suspense and thriller novel. Every chapter was packed with action giving me an adrenaline rush as I read them.
I especially liked...
How each chapter left me hanging. It was impossible to put it down! My hands were glued to the cover and my eyes to the pages. It only took me four days to read all three books. They were that good! I also liked Suzanne Collins' use of first person throughout all the books. It made getting inside Katniss' head tremendously easy and gave me an intimacy with her feelings that I would not have gotten had the author used third person.
I didn't like...
Suzanne Collins uses a unique style of writing where she uses very short sentences. Some of them ended up being sentence fragment, and, because I am a very picky grammar person, I was a little annoyed, but everything else about the books made up for it.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
READ MORE! I felt empty inside not being able to snuggle up and read a book for five hours straight. It also made me want to watch the movies again. *Bigsmile*
This Book made me feel...
Depressed in some chapters, happy in others, sad sometimes (I even cried, and I haven't cried reading a book in a long time), but overall it made me feel
The author of this Book...
Suzanne Collins
I recommend this Book because...
Not only is it a great read, but the moral teaching in it is sound.
