| As a youth, I escaped the realities of a rough childhood by writing short stories and poems. I lost the courage along the way growing up. I joined the military right out of high school. It was through that experience that I began to write the things I experienced. My siblings began to join as well. All 3 of my siblings went to Iraq and in 2015 and 2004, we lost two of them to war and what happens after. My desire to share our story and the stories of veterans who come home became stronger. |
