We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life. |
“There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .” ― Charles Spurgeon “Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.” ― C. H. Spurgeon “Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.” ― Charles Haddon Spurgeon “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” ― Charles Spurgeon “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” ― Charles Spurgeon “Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” ― Charles Spurgeon “When your will is God's will, you will have your will.” ― Charles Spurgeon https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/2876959.Charles_Haddon_Spurgeon (Philippians 2:13, KJV) |
The pruners bring us more from less. The cuts don't bless. They feel abused, and wronged and used. But when the junk is fully gone the blooming swan is better far than hurts that mar. To grow beyond a moment's pain is wisdom's gain. A friend will harm releasing charm. by Jay O'Toole on January 21st, 2020 c:lgrey}Author’s Note: This was written for the January 2020 round of "Rhythm & Rhyme: Poetry/Lyrics Challenge" Day 2 Prompt: Create iambic meter within the Minute Poetry form **I spent three hours yesterday afternoon working in a friend's yard with multiple bushes, that needed some intense and often severe pruning to return the plants to good health. Were they able to speak, they would no doubt have questioned the integrity of my friendship with them and with their owner. However, surgery, whether the physical pruning of plants or the emotional surgery of telling a friend something he or she needs to hear, but probably doesn't care to consider at the moment, is the kindest thing a friend can do in order to improve the life of another. Iambic meter is a favorite of mine. It is probably the most used form throughout all the history of my poetry writing.** |
This is the melody for the song. ba BUM ba ba BUM ba BUM ba ba BUM ba BUM ba ba BUM ba ba BUM ---------------------------------------------------------------- Chorus Succeeding at life, while failing the deed shows faithfulness unto the Lord. The Bible is true, though few dare to read the stories throughout His great Word. Verse #1 The preacher named, "Noah" just spoke to the air for nobody came in the boat, but Noah, his wife, and son's wives were there as Shem, Ham, and Japheth, his dote. Verse #2 The writer named, "Paul" wrote most of the last of Bible books for us to read. His words landed him in prison so fast, that none could accuse him of greed. Verse #3 Yet, these are the sum, those favored by God, who failed at their primary task, but when life is o'er the Truth of His Word reveals in His Presence they bask. Bridge Succeeding at life, while failing the deed is really not bad as it seems. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Author’s Note: This was written for the January 2020 round of "Rhythm & Rhyme: Poetry/Lyrics Challenge" Day 1 Prompt: Create a steady melody to be used consistently throughout your song lyrics **I heard a speaker this weekend, who pointed out the fact, that some of the greatest individuals in The Holy Bible lived their lives on Earth quite unsuccessfully through no fault of their own. Noah was a preacher of righteousness, who preached for 120 years, but the only people, who accepted what he had to say, were the members of his own family. Paul wrote most of the books of the New Testament, but he spent a large portion of his life in prison and was finally killed for his faith. My lyrics show my fondness for iambic and anapestic meter flavored in a very personal way.** |

The taste of joy lingers in my heart. Love for Humanity stays throughout the year. Greatest human love throughout the year, Shines as twinkling lights, that no more nightly burn. Colorful lights, that no more nightly burn shine within my servant's heart all day. Shining in my servant's heart all-day are hopes to make my world a better place. These hopes to make my world a better place reflect the child's desire for Santa's cause. Reflecting light the child for Santa's cause gives each day in the hope of Christmas's return. Myself a daily gift in hope of Christmas's return. The taste of joy still lingers in my heart. |
Sometimes it becomes necessary to find new homes for well-established plants. Maybe they have been doing so well, that their effusive natures are just not beneficial to the present environs. Roots are pruned, severely at times. Always the event requires physical, emotional, and spiritual fortitude from the gardener and endurance from the plant. The process of transplanting is, indeed, a moving experience. crowned with lively blooms poverty to riches fair royal life will thrive |

Spirea tilts and then it falls. The massive rootball I can't lift. Two days I've dug to thus dislodge. How can I move this wondrous gift? So quickly comes the helpful thought, "The elevator method use." I thank the Lord for His Insights. Then quick my movements and profuse. The elevator method means to lift the plant upon its side, then shovel dirt where it will lie when lifting the other side with pride to do it all, again. So, back and forth, and inch by inch the heavy rootball lifts with joy. When near the lip of this deepish hole, I brace and grunt and push employ. With one more lift the wagon's full, the heavy pulling to its home make bones and muscles start to ache. At last from the couch, I'll not soon roam. Tomorrow, I must dig the hole much wider than I did at first. The rootball's larger than I thought. Such work will cause much greater thirst. Spirea will be soon ensconced. The cedar mulch in beauty laid, but then the next friend I'll assay to move forsythia, make the grade. |
