My life's ups and downs... |
Today is Tyler James' 13th birthday! Wow. Can hardly believe it. I will see him on Sunday, Lord willing, and will take him shopping for a new mouse and a stand for his computer. Practical, eh? I'm in Orlando at a North Florida Al-Anon Assembly for the weekend... returning home Sunday. I am the current General Representative (GR) of a Thursday night group in Pinellas Park called "Friends of Lois." I served the group as an Alternate GR and then took over the remaining term of our last GR when he had to bow out. I'll serve as the GR for the next three years, which entails attending monthly District Meetings and two Assemblies a year----every fall and spring. |
I moved on July 11, 2014... just me and Goober. This new apartment complex is nicer---clean, landscaped, less criminals. I awoke at about 8:00 a.m., got on here and renewed my membership for another three months. It's been a little tough getting things back to normal since the move---a lot of extra expenses, including my last two months' rent at the old place. I plan to turn in the keys there on 8-30-14. Next weekend! Looking forward to that. Took Goober to the vet on Friday. I should get an estimate of what needs done by Tuesday or Thursday so I can start planning Goober's surgery. Minimally, he will have a dental cleaning and be de-clawed. I may need to have one of his eyes removed---but that's not for sure. So, I've cleaned house this morning and have been watching Christian television. Time to make dinner and tune into a good mystery. |
Woke up about five minutes before the alarm clock went off... the degree of heat outside already tangible on the inside --- though the sun had yet to make it's way up the unseen horizon. Thought briefly about a walk, since I've been thinking about my lack of, need for exercise pretty regularly of late. My new swimsuit arrived with yesterday's mail. A trip to the beach today would be nice. I've been playing Throne Rush on Facebook. So, I got on there this morning only to discover I'd been attacked, yet again! It becomes hard to build-up gold and store bread when you're constantly under siege and pillage. I may stay a little while longer before I clear out and shut-down. I'd like to stop by the VA cemetery today as a small token of respect. The old graveyard, Woodside Cemetery, where my most recent ancestors are buried is far away in Middletown, Ohio. I acknowledge this and make a mental reminder to visit next time I'm in town. Enjoy your Memorial Day! --------------------------- It's about 8:20 p.m., and I had a very full day. Drove back and forth across the Sunshine Skyway, spent some time on St. Pete Beach and then went over to the home of my son-in-law's parents where I swam in the pool, played tag with my grandsons and ate a delicious steak dinner. It was a wonderful day. |
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I've been up about an hour. Jorge left for work about twenty minutes ago. Think I'll go freshen up and then head out myself. |
So, on Black Friday, I bought a brand new car. It's a 2013 Honda Civic EX L --- a beauty and the ride is smooth and quiet. Definitively, it was a "God" thing, and His timing is perfect. He is so good to me. |
I trust everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! Mine was good. Took a long walk in the morning. Then I scooped up Goober and we took a road-trip to the post office. He hates it when I leave the house and so I decided to take him with me. He must have thought we were headed to the vet at first. Maybe if I take him on more rides, he won't get so nervous when I do take him to the vet. I was wondering what I was going to do for Thanksgiving --- both Clarissa and Jorge were working and Tim and the boys were at his mothers. At first I called 400 Beach Seafood and Tap House, but they were all booked except for an opening at 6:30 p.m. Then I decided to give Cracker Barrel a try... Called them up, made my order and picked it up within thirty minutes. They were packed, but I made my way to the cashier, paid for my meals and before the transaction was complete a girl handed me my order. It was good too---nice and hot---turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce and cornbread. Yum. I've got a haircut appointment for 11:30 a.m. Yes! I think she left my hair too long last time. It's so unmanageable and I'm having to get another cut two weeks early. It's Black Friday --- that's what they call the day after Thanksgiving --- the biggest shopping day of the year. Don't expect to see me out in that mad crowd! Enjoy your day and have a great weekend! |
It's been an eventful week. Really enjoyed working "outside community" at Sonbeam Via De Christo, Ladies Weekend #62. Met a lot of people --- "working" together generates comaraderie. Yesterday there was an Ultreyas, which is sort of like a Thanksgiving as the former candidates have begun their "Fourth Day" walk. It was so nice to be able to say, Hello, to those whom I met and now know, having worked the weekend. A good friend and member of the "team" has been sick since Monday. I called her yesterday; the doctor said she has borderline pneumonia. How can something like that manifest itself in such a short period of time? Both of my grandsons have recently overcome the flu. Many at the office are out this week while I must work... but only for three days, thankfully! Happy Thanksgiving!! |
She speaks! Hey there, I've been up since about 8:00 a.m. this morning. As I listen to Jorge shower, I'm typing away wanting to touch base one more time. It's been a week of sadness and joy. A friend's brother, Billy Bearden, passed away Wednesday after weeks of trying to recover from a car accident --- ups and downs and a lot of prayer. My ex-husband's brother was found dead in his bathroom this week as well. Friday, our friend returned to work and four of us went to lunch at Chipotle's. At the end of the work day, a bottle of Irish Whiskey was opened and we all made a farewell toast to Billy Bearden. I came home from work and Jorge and I shared a nice dinner at Carrabba's. I love their Veal Marsala with spinach. Yummy. This morning I am readying myself to assist in "outside community" at a Via De Christo ladies weekend. I'll be assisting in the kitchen. Have a nice weekend! |
It's a sunny Sunday in St. Petersburg, Florida. Yesterday morning at this time, I was sitting in the rain waiting to watch a football game. My grandson is part of the Seminole Chiefs ---- he plays defense for both the offense and defense on his team. He looks so cute in his uniform... Mr. Tough-guy. I'd love to get out of the house today, catch some rays, maybe enjoy the beach. God bless you on this special day. |
Sunday, June 30, 2013, 10:21am It's been a wonderful week. I've been temping at the same place for the last two weeks and it was fun. The people and work atmosphere were very do-able. Looking forward to starting a new job this week... It's supposed to be a long-term assignment, and I sure had to jump through a lot of hoops to come on board. Hope it's worth it. June came and went so fast. The 4th is this Thursday --- kind of weird to be off one day in the middle of the week. |
