Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Share your top five romantic movies. Why? What about them makes them memorable?"

I don't watch a lot of romantic movies. Maybe that's because I consider myself to "macho" for them, but I don't think that is it. I just never found them interesting. I did watch a movie a long time ago. I believe it was called "Barefoot in the Park" or something like that. The only reason I watched it was because it was on late night television back when you didn't get a lot of channels and I had no choice but watch it. It was a good movie. Aside from that I don't do a lot of romance. I also liked "Sleepless in Seattle" because I wanted to see what all the hub bub surrounding it was about.

Blog City image small "Prompt: Do you write for fun or do you hope to make a living at it?"

I started out writing for a living and failed at it for years. I basically felt my way along and learned as I went. Then one night I submitted a poem directly to an editor inside the body of an email and hooked her. She wanted the rest of the manuscript, which I submitted and it was published traditionally. I then wrote and published four more with the same company but they went nowhere because there was no marketing effort. Aside from the copies I bought for myself, I don't think any sold. I gave up and now I am pursuing a career in counseling/peer support.

Disney movies, music and books. Add something about Peter Pan and Wendy and Tinkerbelle.into your blog today."

While I never believed in "Never, Never Land, I did hope that such a place existed. I remember watching many movies and knowing that reality was much different than fantasy. I used to get really bitter because the places of fantasy did not exist and people did not live happily ever after. Niw I realize that such a place really does exist and I can have a part of it within me today. That place is Heaven and a true relationship with Jesus Christ makes it real to me. All I have to do is the leg work. I walk where Holy Spirit leads me, go where Holy Spirit guides me, and do what Holy Spirit tells me. I have a little piece of heaven as a result. Tinkerbelle, Peter Pan, and Wendy are fantasy but Holy Spirit is very present with me today.

"January 4, 2020 Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: The first signs of spring."

At one time the first signs of spring for me were when the red-breasted robins began to show up. Now I live a little farther south and they gin with. Now the first sign of spring to look for is the lilies blooming. That usually occurs in March though I have seen a few dandelions that were still blooming in January here. This has been such a warm winter that even the trees are confused. Many of the sugar maples around these parts are starting to bud, although a cold snap will put them right back into hibernation. People will probably argue that it is global warming causing it. I saw enough evidence in my science classes at Marshall University to be convinced that global warming is real. However I don't feel we are going to be able to do anything about it. I believe God has ordained the world to be destroyed by heat (fire) and global warming is part of the build up to that occurring.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: "While it is February one can taste the full joys of anticipation. Spring stands at the gate with her finger on the latch." ~ Patience Strong
Use this saying to inspire your blog entry."

I personally can't wait until spring gets here. Spring is my favorite season because it is a time of renewing. I think we all need renewed from time to time. I know I most certainly do. I get stuck in a rut sometimes and it's very hard to get out. However I have a God who knows I am in a rut and He pulls me from it. He is such a glorious, wonderful God. He meets my every need and does so at the perfect time. When I get stuck in a rut He may let me dwell in it for a whille, but He eventually sends something to change my routine. He knows that ruts are not good for me so He doesn't let me dwell in them long. Winter is often a rut for me because I can become very depressed in the winter time. This winter has been different though. I have been very busy wearing multiple hats and fulfilling multiple roles. My jobs as chaplain, floor leader, soldier, and elder keep me very busy. I get to serve others in each of these roles and I find that very rewarding. I also was fortunate enough to find a doctor who understood that I not only suffered from bi-polar disorder but also had a traumatic brain injury due to a car wreck/ She had a medication that treats both and she put me on it. It has definitely helped.

Blog City image small Prompt: What makes us hold on to things, ideas, or people; those things that we can’t let go of although we know we should?

I honestly don't know though I can proffer a few educated guesses.I'd say one thing that causes us to do so is that it is familiar. People are typically afraid of change because change means accepting and fhe unknown. Giving these things up means facing life without them and it is easier to continue the status quo.
My second guess would be that these things are an addiction. Addiction is hard to beat.

The spunky groundhog ate ice cream as the birds played music.

Lord knows I am like the groundhog where ice cream is concerned. I eat a lot of it. The doctor said my calcium was low due to a vitamin D deficiency. I don't absorb calcium properly. Ice cream give me calcium. I'm still quite spunky for my age so I don't need brittle bones. That would be for the birds in my mind. I don't want the funeral music yet!
