My blog--I pull a card--if it doesn't speak to me...perhaps it is for you? |
I pull a card...if it doesn't speak to me...perhaps it was meant for you? How to Read the Tarot Begin by brewing a cup of tea, a nervine, lemon balm or chamomile, this is after all, your future. A reading at the dark of the moon is best, before the night creatures crawl and bad humours fill the air. Pick a circular deck, with a fairy-tale motif, and no reversals. Hold a question in your heart, shuffle the cards and place them on the table. Choose only two. Like the ancient Israelites, these are your seer stones, Urim and Thumimm, black and white, yes or no. Isn't that all you were asking? |
Vrkasana I have DVD's. Yoga for Round Bodies. Asanas for the Inflexible. My knees are bad and my left bicep is ripped. I am a fallen tree, I do the log pose. One foot grounds to earth, my hands in prayer position gravity opens my shoulders and hips. My breathing slows. A prayer for me, A prayer for another, A prayer for Ygdrassil, the World Tree. Dark Goddess Tarot--Three of Earth--The Norns--put care in every stitch of creation. |
Mother's Day My son is often a stranger that disappoints. As I bedevil him. Eagle fledglings aren't thrown from the nest but forced to fly for food. What mother gives stones when asked for bread? I will stifle my growls of discontent, and offer such snatches of light as I possess. Dark Goddess Tarot--Six of Air--SCATHACH----learn from those who force you to do your best. |
Saturday Crows came to the soccer fields this morning looking to snatch some crackers or Cheetos. Both of the boy's teams won today. They clanged after the birds scattering them back to the trees. At eleven and thirteen they never notice small, kind miracles. This is not a day for asking questions not a day on any calendar. It is my husband's birthday. At home tonight there will be cake, candles, and wine. I will gift him a heap of ash from the wildfires, a found black feather and a winnowing basket emptied of grain. The bold lines are from a Rumi poem. Dark Goddess Tarot---Hag of Air--Dhumavati--claim a weakness as a badge of courage. |
NaPoWriMo day 6– 🐥 ducklings I like watching the Muscovy ducklings Like all species babies they are soft and wideeyed. Vulnerable. The adult ducks are ugly and a nuisance in Florida. Just a reminder that not all of us become swans. |
Illusion I saw Jesus in the corn chip and Mary in the clouds but cannot see the pictures in the 3D Magic Eye. The Red Dakini rises in a plume of incense smoke. Chakras spin. The Wheel turns. dark Goddess Tarot--Red Dakini-Eight of Fire---move and follow your passion. |
Gunne Sax Granddaughter, I rescued this dress for you. Worn for my first wedding when I could touch the sky then sent in a tangled heap to a Goodwill when the threads of that marriage unraveled. Refound in an Arcadia antique store, and bought again when you existed only as starlight. You may not want this dry, dusty gown. The serpent slithers through stories. But I offer other, better hand-me-downs. Truth in your bones. Sparks in your speech. And a temple to house your own divinity. Dark Goddess Tarot--Amazon of Air--Skadi--Norse Goddess. Independence, authenticity, self-sufficiency. |
Why Walls? The house on Jane Street had a small cement yard with three walls: wooden, wire, and one with a gate. You could still hear the sharp shatter of broken glass when the neighbors raged. Sometimes the rain carried the shadow sound of race music from a radio by an open window. You could pass through the gate by an alleyway, a birth canal to a different street. Truth was spoken there, too. Why don't we know that walls are liars, veils of illusion and protection? Our souls abhor a border. |
Regret There is nothing I would take back now, but unkindness. Listen closer. Touch without prying. Muffle that whistle of pride. We all have feet of clay, and dragons to slay. Push and peck away the niblets of hate, yardbirds in a pen. And watch this pit in my middle chest dissolve away. Dark GoddessTarot--Ten of Earth--ALA-Honor the earth, give to the poor.Host a feast. |
Easter--Naples 2018 Nothing proclaims the Resurrection like guns and ammo per the full page newspaper ad. The Donald tweets. On Tuesday, despite the thugs, I will watch Roseanne. She makes me laugh. At the Pier, sunrise celebrants ponder the empty tomb, and hope to glimpse the dolphins. Small miracles are the best. Dark Goddess Tarot--IX--The Hermit---BABA YAGA--a good time to explore or deepen relationships with unseen beings. |
