I am sorry I forgot about NaNo Write Mo again this year! I have been on Writing dot com for a couple of years and just keep on forgetting to do it. However I have a new calendar for 2017 and really intend to do it next year. I haven't yet done the NaNoWriMo yet and am looking forward to the challenge. I am not really sure what it is all about, although I think it is writing 10,000 words in a month, in November. I would like to give it a try. Any advice for someone who doesn't contribute much to Writing dot com or writing in general????

Thanks.

p.s. Are there official mentors on writing.com? I would like one. I feel that I write pretty well, good spelling and all of that, but would like a coach.
I don't know about official mentors. What genre do you write?

I have written mostly diaries and school material and have a bachelor's degree in technical writing. I don't know where to start. It is a relief to have graduated and be out of school. Now I want to figure out what to do with the rest of my life. I am 55 years old and feel that being a writer is what I want to do with the rest of my life. I would like to write self-help books but haven't identified really who to write for and what my focus would be. Thus the need for a mentor.
I have arthritis and am going to arthritis group later today. I couldn't sleep last night more than 5 hours. Ughh!

I have graduated from school with a B.A. in Technical and Professional writing, but really have a desire to be a creative writer. I found the coursework in Technical writing to be too dry but continued through school nonetheless as I wanted that degree.

I would like to get more involved in something after I graduate in December with writing.com. I still consider myself as a newbie, as I don't do much more than read the newsletters as they pile up in my writing.com "inbox." I am a current student taking Technical Writing courses and am finishing up on Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, but have always hankered to be a creative writer. I have a leaning towards creative writing, but because of my intense focus on school I cannot think of even starting NaNoWriteMo, although the idea sounds intriguing.

My my calculations, NNWM takes 1600 words a day which seems a lot. Can we start this early, like in October, or does it all have to be in the month of November???
