I checked the "Request Review" feature on one of my items, but the list was a bit overwhelming - and I couldn't find anyone that would read novels. I am trying to fix a novel that is just a jumble of scenes all mushed together that make no sense. While rewriting it, I'd like to get some feedback on it. Does anyone know if someone will review/critique a fantasy novel chapter by chapter?

Question to fellow fantasy authors out there -

I have a story I've been trying to write for years. The characters are faeries, wings and all, but every time I work on it, I feel like it that just doesn't work. Do you know how often wings gets in the way!? I know that the fae can be magical and even fly without actual wings, but could I get away with still calling them faeries? (or fairies depending on how you want to spell it). I don't want to make them "elves" because that brings in a whole other list of mythos to either work with or ignore. I don't really feel like I can get away with "reinventing" the idea of these fantastical type beings, but, my brain just won't work for me. I've done a ton of research but I feel like now I just have information overload. What are you thoughts on all this?
Retractable wings -- wings that fold into a slit in their backs. Or they can travel invisibly in the spirit realm.
Hey, it's your story, use imagination like magical wings that only appear when needed, things like that. It's not like anyone can say no that's wrong as it is based on faeries, which would be difficult to prove if you had something that is different from the norm.

I've been missing from Writing.com for a while now, due to some family things. But I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. A lot of things have changed for sure and I feel like a newbie all over again! I have a few GPs in my account that I'm sure were donated to me or groups I had back then and I don't feel right in keeping them to myself. I already sent some to the Angel Army and ROAK but wanted to know if there are any other contests or groups out there that need a little boost! I can't donate to everything obviously, but let me know of any great groups out there that I have missed since being gone.

In an unrelated note, what happened to the chat? Is it all IM and message boards now?
That's a shame. I loved the chat feature. Ahh well. I'll learn to adjust! Thanks!

Man, been a while since I've been on WDC. Some of you may remember I actually published a book a few years ago. It was a major bomb and I've had trouble getting back into the writing game. My ego was severely bruised (well beaten to a pulp really) - and then real life got a little crazy and is just now starting to calm back down....So, here I am. Back where it all started, returning to my roots as it were. I can't wait to get started, but first, I need to clean out my portfolio of all the old stuff, and make room for some new creations.

How have all of you been doing lately? I hope all is going well with everyone.

Missed you too, much like everyone else I used to know, but I really don;t come on here a great deal.
So, I'm not sure what to do today. Maybe plan out the plot for book 2 of The Kinir Elite series...hmmm Or maybe work on another story that needs editing....sad that none of this sounds appealing. *pout*
Writing is hard work sometimes... gotta struggle through the tough parts to get to the fun ones, IMO.

Yes, Jay, here are fun parts. Plenty of them. And I would be fun to work on any of my stories right now....I think I'm just tired from working double shifts all weekend, so today I'm just not motivated to do anything, even the fun stuff.
If it ain't fun I'm not doin' it!

Whew. Cleared out 35+ items from my portfolio and reorganized. I'll probably clear out a lot more as I decide on activities I might start back up and ones I won't. We'll see. But for now, everything is updated and in the right place! YAY!
Night before last I slept for 7+ hours. Woke up, took little guy to school, checked email and went back to bed for a little nap. Nap ended up going until 3:30 pm (5 to 6 hours). Went to a Braves game with the fam, came home at 11 pm and went back to sleep! (another 7 hours). Think I was tired?
Yesterday was my 9 year WDC anniversary. NINE YEARS. Whew. Been a lot of good times here. This place is just too awesome! Even when I go away for a while, I always come back. Just can't stay away!

Here's to 9 years of writing, friendship, and support - and can't wait for the next 9!

Riot : I'm back as much as I can be. Like I told Sapph, I'm busy busy but..want to be active again for sure! So, first thing is to get my port reorganized and updated yea? Going to have fun with that with all the new features now! Going to be fun! I've missed you too!
