What a great example of the old saying, "less is more." So little is spoken, yet, so much is said if you just take the time to listen. Beautiful. I just had to take a peek at what the 'thank you' poem in the author's port was all about, and I must say, she is very deserving of an awrdicon for this piece.
Nicely done. Honest freeverse words that definitely describe the flustered anticipation of the phone call from the one you love. I like how just this very short piece tells so much about the author's feelings. It is also written in such a way that it could easily be expanded into a whole story and actually leave the confines of poetry, not that this would be necessary for the reader to understand it. Short and sweet.
Well, I just wanted to tell you that, memoir or not, this is a great anecdote. We get to know you so well through your writings. Have you tried to submit this piece to other magazines online? I hope so. This is a touching tribute to the author's hard-working father.
Hmmm... the first stanza is somewhat sympathetic to the poet's mourners, whereas, the second stanza leads me to believe she cares not how they would feel. Is this the selfish thoughts of someone dreading their life, or is there more to this puzzle? A bit confusing to me, but, nevertheless, outstanding imagery is used here, and I am sure many could empathize with her thoughts.
Interesting use of what I guess could be called alliteration (anyone please correct me if I'm wrong). The poet starts each line with the letter "D," which is coincidentally the same letter used to begin her title. A touching profession of love. May we all find this kind of splendor in our lives.
Imagination is such a wonderful thing, don't you agree? Isn't it nice that, as writers, we may never grow up to be unimaginative, close-minded, rigid "adults." This is a refreshing piece of art, as it steps outside the box and gives us yet another perspective on life from the eyes of a wild beast. Beautiful.
Have you ever met someone who just seemed to be taking up space and wasting it? Sometimes you just want to wring the person's neck because they're so freakin' delusional! Well, this poem sums these feelings up quite nicely with brutal honesty. If you're close-minded, you won't understand, but this poem is just for you.
Everyone needs a guardian, someone to lean on. Sometimes it feels as though they are smothering you, but others you feel very secure in their grasp. This piece shows us just how dependent we are on each other, regardless of how strong we may seem in the eyes of others.
Hilariously sentimental! Ridiculously cute! I love the metaphor used here. Do dogs really think this way? Could be. Anything is possible. Being the proud "commander" of three jovial, lovable, and drooly "sentries," this piece has a special place in my heart. They truly are unconditionally loving.
Whether Hindu, Pagan, or Christian (I know countless other religions have been unmentioned), an appreciation for the beauty of this piece's words must not be ignored. What an ingenious imagination the author has as he inter-twines religion with folk-lore. I will never listen to a dog's howl in the same way again.
I am woman. Hear me purr. The beauty of this poem is that it does not rhyme, yet, there is a certain rhythm to it, just as there is to the wax and wane of the moon. Not a single moment in this life is just like the one before it, but the moon is steadily there night after night to calm our souls.
Beautiful embodiement of the focus of this newsletter: hope. Very fitting coming from the editor of this Spiritual publication. Nice and neat. A wonderful ending for a powerful message of hope. Awesome job, and keep those creative juices flowing!
One typo. Couldn't really make sense out of it, funny or otherwise. Maybe if you try out the madlib yourself a couple times, you'll see what I mean. I hope this doesn't discourage you. Just try, try again.
