The inverted triangles or pyramids really work for this poem. The triangle is considered by many the most stable form in the universe of abstraction and the allusion to something hard, fixed and unyielding is elegantly suggested. The structure makes me recall one of E. E. Cummings' poem about a grasshopper, albeit the tone and sense perception are worlds apart.
I find that form and content interlock here very well. I also like how the first and last lines echo and reaffirm each other at the top and at the bottom.
