I'm the lead editor for a small independent press, but I am on maternity leave for the next several years and thus not accepting submissions. I'll tell you my professional opinion on first chapters or short pieces and whether I would have accepted it or rejected it if I was looking for work. I've dealt most with controversial speculative fiction, and I'm most interested in polyamory a.k.a consensual non-monogamy.

Unless a grain of wheat shall fall upon the ground and die . . . that's one of my favorite songs from church. Thank you for reminding me of these things.

Welcome! I stumbled upon your work through the “read a newbie” feature.

This makes me nostalgic for my dating days. I think the most important thing about dating is having shared goals. There's a vague reference to standards, but what are they, specifically? Standards often refer to physical appearance, income, and other superficial metrics. Goals go deeper than standards, and many people don't wind up discussing goals until it's too late. The beauty of online dating is the ability to put one's goals at the forefront.

Review of Dark Side of Love

Welcome! I stumbled upon your work through the “read a newbie” feature.

Love indeed has a dark side. I blame our evolutionary heritage, yet I also look to it for answers. When we understand more about how we got to the place we are at now, we can talk more openly and celebrate the processes that led us here in consensual ways.

Happy writing, and I hope you enjoy it here!

This makes me nostalgic for my high school years. After winter awareness training with Scouts, all I wanted most was get into a sleeping bag with someone who wanted to keep me warm.

Review of WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Review by K5Rakitan

Welcome! I stumbled upon your work through the “read a newbie” feature.

Getting out and learning about other parts of the world is a valuable thing to add to your education. Of course, it takes money to do that, and it can be especially difficult without parental consent. Do you have any reason to be afraid of your parents if they do not approve of this, or are you simply worried about having to let go of your dream?

Happy writing, and I hope you enjoy it here!

Hello! I found this through the random “Read & Review” feature.

I take slight offense at the assumption that I have, or have ever had, a car. Due to climate change, I made the decision to reject driving before I turned 16. I took two bicycles to university. Now I am 35 years old with a 3-year-old son, and I still do not drive, though I am considering an electric bicycle to handle the hills while hauling my precious cargo.

I would definitely say that university enriched my beliefs, as there were no drastic changes for me. I did attend the same university as my parents, so that probably had a lot to do with it.

Thanks for sharing your writing :)

Welcome! I stumbled upon your work through the “read a newbie” feature.

This sounds like a very traumatic experience. Please seek professional help as soon as you can. I recently had to seek therapy for a relationship from 2009-2014, as the trauma from that is impacting my marriage.
