Review of Sweet Poison
Review by PAPIYA
Rated: 18+ | (3.5)
What a poised feeling! The darker sides of one's rambling thoughts are even more bitter and harsh than reality. A person is seeking to embrace death to get rid of the agonized pain of an ailment or may be some psychic despondency. Euthanasia can release the soul from the burden of pain and plight. But it is quite amazing to find one seeking death when life begets unending scope for living and let others living.

The writer here presents before us a world of sculptures that open up vista of bounteous beauty. In a very simple language she makes the readers visualize the panorama of a hilly view, the sylvan beauty of a rural village of India. We can hear the bucolic call of rural India with all its arrayed beauty. More important is the mention of the "wheels of time", the scene of which make us feel like entering the pre-independence era. Moreover, boating across the river amidst the serenity gives a tranquil pleasure. But I think, there should be more concentration while choosing words for writing something about traveling experience so that the readers can get into the world at once on reading it.

Memories beget both joys and sorrows. Memories last forever till life is buried. Both joys and sorrows are necessary to replenish life. The poem disencumbers the soul from the burden of griefs. The speaker for her resplendent thoughts will ever be alive in the sweet memory of her beloved.

Review of Hearts A Fire
Review by PAPIYA
Rated: E | (4.5)
A poem about change- a metamorphosis from the debris of evils. Change is mandatory. This change means a cataclysmic transformation from the dystopia from utopia. Arise, awake and stop not till the " mother" within us is revivified to bring a ruination of all that is satanic and slacken the progression of life and civilization. The "mother" signifies the inbound potentialities, the power of creation of all that bring rejuvenation. Life teaches us to transcend the iniquitous, diabolical and malicious. Life is regenerated from degeneration. In the poem, I find a cliche of naive thoughts, the poignant feelings. It reminds me of P.B. Shelley's urge to be empowered with the celestial powers to bring an apocalyptic change.

There is a saying- "Charity begins at home." It is also applicable to education which equally starts at home. Parents are the "friends, philosophers and guide." The teachings and education they impart upon their children are nonpareil. It is a boon for the children who are educated at homes. But to keep pace with the world outside children are to get admission in public schools where they learn socialization at the same time. But boon turns to bane when we read in newspapers about the egregious incidents happening in several schools where the nascent lives are at risks. The writer has poignantly brought out the discrepancies in public schools and his intention of getting education at home.

Review of HATRED
Review by PAPIYA
Rated: 13+ | N/A (Review only item.)
A heart wrenching thought almost squeezing the minds of the readers to ponder over a macabre and ghastly true life incident which can even melt a stone but egregiously people in the name of religious dogmas and blind fanaticism. No one has the right to separate people from others whatever religion, caste and sex one may belong to. God is the creator. We all have came from Him. According to the Holy Bible, meekness, mildness, generosity, chastity are the qualities that God bestows upon us. But unknowingly or knowingly we fail to realize the truth and become oblivion of universal fraternity. Gay people also have the right to live according to their will until it harms anyone. The poem, as I hope, will bring illumination to the darker sides of human mind and make them feel the strength of love and brotherhood.

Review of Roundabout
Review by PAPIYA
Rated: E | (4.0)
"Roundabout" is a nice example of a modern poem. The poem brings out the naivety of a lover's feelings who is on the doorstep of separation. There is the juxtaposition of anxiety and expectation of being reunited although everything lost in the mirage of lost hope as the conversation brings no meaning at all. The couple lose their synchronization. The relationship is on the verge of ending. The poem accumulates the thoughts of a lost love in such a manner that it touches the inner core of our hearts.

Review of Sara and Mort
Review by PAPIYA
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
A fictional story with a message of love. There is a couple. one of whom is having an inheritance. The two run their family with meager amount. Illama though a horse, has become the dearest family member. they do not possess pompous wealth. Their only possession is unfathomable love for each other and an expectation of getting an inheritance. In spite of having lovable feelings for each other unknowingly there is a lack of cohesion between the two. There is a poise and passivity in their feelings. Ringing of the door bell is a signal for an expectation. Mort was surprised on having "an old shoe" as a symbol of inheritance. But with his utter amazement Sara told Mort that her aunt Marie has bestowed upon her the blessings of posterity as she has given her all the precious collection of antique clothing and jewelry but she is not empowered to sell rather she can give these to her next off-springs. Another bewilderment. The story ends abruptly following the perfect gesture of a well-knit short story leaving unending inquisitiveness on the part of the readers.

Review of Her
Review by PAPIYA
Rated: E | (4.0)
The poem reminds me of the famous confessionist poetess Sylvia Plath whose feelings burst out in the powerful thoughts in her poems. The same gushing out of spontaneous feelings is found in this poetry. The mind here speaks most desperately about her daily humdrum. Despondency looms large. Though at first, the readers seem to be in a vexed condition about whom the poetess is speaking of, it is made crystal clear at the fag end of the poem when she confirms that it is none but the poetess herself. Being a writer and a reader I am very fond of confessional writings where the writer's emotions and feelings are ejaculated and make the readers feel one with the authors.

The poem is written in the sweet memory of the two pets that have left the world of mortals leaving only their reminiscences. The poet is grief stricken and nevertheless can’t forget the two lovely fluffy furry cats that died of disease. One of them left the earth so early that it shocks the poet intensely. Still the pranks played by the cats are vivid in her memory. She hardly feels to be alienated from those sprightly pals whose mischievous actions still haunt her. When the Modena of sun grew aural they started to rise themselves from the yawning slumber and when the sun spread crimson hues in the azure they remained with the poet. So the captivated memories chase her all day long. Now her beloved kitties sleep in eternity. No rumbling, no cute yawns or the cuddly comfort would ever be found. The poet hopes to meet them in the unity of love at the” rainbow bridge” free from the mundane sufferings.

It seems to be a day’s autobiography of a pariah dog. The poet as if feels the untold emotions of animals neglected, half-fed or not fed at all, the scary yet lovable eyes of whom inadvertently yearns for the love and care they need from us- the so called intelligent human beings. But egregiously, on the contrary to their feelings, we treat them with harshness. The cruelty often results in beating up and even death of those innocent love seekers. From dawn to dusk the curios eyes wait for love yet all is not ended up with a vicarious suffering. There are people who love animals like the members of their families. The personification of the seems to represent the feelings of all animals and strikes at the conscience of human beings to be rational enough so that the invigorating conscience of man precludes their treating them with animosity and inhumanness. Silence here speaks out the most moral truth- spread love to all; live and let others live.

A moderately short story starts with a person named Michael, wildly chasing a golden treasure with a motto to become rich, fell trapped by some knaves who were about to plunder the wealth he had acquired by the sweat of his brow. Within this curt narrative, the author very deftly blends the passion for wealth, the hard struggle possess it, the pristine lust for it and the relentless struggle that ends abruptly falling an inevitable victim of vicariousness that brings an untimely death. In this short story, the hero failing to keep the possession of the golden treasure had to succumb to death even after putting up an uneven fight against the enemies. A short narrative with its ending note “then darkness” hints not only at the death of the hero but also signifies the all pervading bleakness that persists in the life of the human beings if we run amuck the wild goose ignoring the present and what we possess.

Review of Stop
Review by PAPIYA
Rated: E | (4.0)
The poem "Stop" exhibits the burgeoning aspects of life, the pied beauty of it. It is a poem of hope that admonishes the readers to stoop before passivity. The images hint at the active life buzzing and throbbing jubilantly. Life is magnified in the so called simple texture of the poem. The poem implies the moving images of the phantasmagorical beauties of life which always inspire us to live and let others live and invigorates us to 'drink life to the lees' before it comes to an end. The poem subtly reminds us of the last line of 'Ulysses' by Lord Alfred Tennyson- "To strive, to seek and not to yield'' before the inscrutable forces. The poem also end with a hopefulness.

Review of The Elevator
Review by PAPIYA
Rated: E | (4.5)
The story ‘ Elevator’ plunges into the inner soul of the human mind that always chases the unknown and the unfathomable spheres of life and beyond it. A team of friends with a motto to unravel the hidden truth of an elevator that was set up in a ruined building in the long past went to the building that has a Victorian outlook. All of them were so curious and undaunted that no fear of impending doom that was looming large on them could distract their minds from discovering the real story behind the foundation of such an uncanny elevator which was not ridden by anyone even at the past as they suspected. It was their indomitable spirit and unflinching zeal that propelled them to unfold the mystery. Danger and mystery lurk in every nook and corner of the building and its adjacent areas yet they were determined to move beyond that. The darkness inside the elevator also hints at the fear hidden in the minds of the human beings but at the same time it projects the ghostly and mysterious atmosphere pervading the whole region. The story ignites the imaginative faculty of the readers as they go through the narrative. The narrative technique deftly interweaves the theme of desire to go beyond what is known and mundane, the aspiration to unravel the mystery- the inscrutable areas that intertwine our lives. It is a tale of the journey-the journey of conscience- the journey that leads us to our real home- the mind.
