Review of The Ice Lake
Review by The Low Road
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
When an artist paints a picture it is up to the viewer to interpret what they are seeing. I think everyone that reads this piece will relate to it in a separate way. The ice and the woman are easy metaphors. Easy to visualize and easy to relate to a struggle in life. Everyone has felt trapped, and alone. Reached out and been met with a cold bleak stare. We have all felt that person will be the one to save us from ourselves when we had the strength to save ourselves the whole time. Well, written.

Review of She Said.
Review by The Low Road
Rated: E | (3.0)
Good poetry should evoke emotion, and this one does. It upsets me. First the assumption of the starry eyed love struck girl assuming the only thing she will need for her future is a husband. Then the condescending man who tells her that not only will she be expected to "be a good wife" but be the bread winner as well. You should have achieved not conceived? I know a lot of good mothers that provide for their families without a college degree, and they do it all on their own because often he does leave and mom is left holding the bag. In fact in this day and age a college degree might get you a job at Starbucks, and there's no way you'll feed your family with that. I enjoy the style and the rhyming scheme of this poem but the tone is too light for the subject matter. Balancing motherhood and your own dreams and goals is not something that is easy for any mother, and certainly should not be the theme of a catchy poem. This may not be the reaction you are looking for, or maybe you were deliberately offensive, it's a little hard to tell.
