This is a clever aabb poem and it reminds me of autumn in Vermont. I love the line, fish-less hooks with dreams as bait. Every fall my friends and I drive around and collect the apples from the trees I scouted in the summer. We go back to her big old wooden porch and spend the day making apple juice and cider and her antique apple press. Thanks for reminding me of a wonderful memory, cheers zanzigirl
Clever rhyming in this aabb poem. I enjoyed the little boy truly enjoying his simple pleasure, so excited to share this with his father. With an offhand remark, all the joy and interest just disappeared. People sometimes don't realize that a little thoughtless remark can cause such a ripple of disappointment and sadness. On the other hand, a simple remark complimenting a child can last for years, giving them confidence and a positive feeling from just a genuine remark, cheers zanzigirl
How clever. A wonderful story of three brother's journey to 'America' and a recipe. I like stories that tell of people's lives, choices and how they roll with whatever life gives them. A fun story of a young boy and his lucky penny. Just believing something is lucky, or that everything will be safe because of a little charm, works because we put positive energy out. A poem with a message. You create a believable situation and Maria is strong in her convictions. Young people need to be aware of the dangers of unprotected sex. It is a rough time with hormones and peer pressure. Girls sometime feel pressured, and have to realize the impact this situation can have tomorrow. Emotional, physical and mental impact..
