A mom's recognition of the noise in her house.
Peace and Quiet

Peace and quiet
don't live here,
only buzz and bang and shout.
I long for the day
I can have it my way
when I exist without
the noise
the noise
the noise of my two boys.
For a moment in time
it would be so sublime
to hear the butterfly's wings.
But instead I get cries
and sobbing goodbyes.
I know I should cherish those things.
For it won't be long
that I'll miss their song
of "mom, come quick, I need you!"
They'll be grown up and gone
and I'll carry on
with the silence -
What will I do?
